While searching for info on the original 2 player CP that should have come with my Dynamo HS-5 cabinet I have found several (old) requests for drawings of this cabinet. I feel since I have AutoCAD and use it practically everyday at work and I have an empty HS-5 I should make up some drawings to share with this forum and Jakobud. I will post progress on my drawings here for y'all to review and critique. If you have an HS-5 yourself please point out things you think I missed or things that may be different from one cab to another. If you don't have an HS-5 please feel free to question my drawing technique or request more/different information than what I am providing. I think that this cabinet has some great features that I intend to document well like the tray/drawer for access to your gameboards. Thanks for looking, and I hope some people find this useful when I am done.
Here are some flyers that have been posted before but I thought would be relevant and some reference pictures of my cabinet. The third picture show's a sort of toe-kick area on the cabinet that I don't think I see in the flyer, if anybody else has some information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

I have drawn one side of the cabinet, but don't have anyway yet to make it into a file type that I can easily share. I will hopefully get to that tomorrow.

If you need a hand, I can probably convert your AutoCAD files to a chewable PDF format that everyone can enjoy!

Very cool.
I worked for Dynamo back from '91 to '94 and the HS-5s were the biggest seller.
I have 2 HS-9s that I was able to salvage from the scrap heap along with the parts to make them work.
Been dragging them around with me for 12 years before I finally Mame'd one last year.
Got plans to make the other into a driving cab this summer. Slowly gathering the parts for that.
Good luck!

That's an excellent idea. The Dynamo HS-5 was a great cabinet, as was the HS-1 and 2. The Ikari III picture is an HS-1 or HS-2 BTW, which is for a 19" monitor and is a bit narrower than the 25" monitor HS-5's.
The hardest part of building one of these yourself I think would be the steel "cut-corner" CP's, though you could always pick one of those up used from a real Dynamo.
It would be nice if someone out there with metal fabrication capabilities would reproduce Dynamo CP's.

That's an excellent idea.
Hang on to your hats, we're going to agree ...
Props to bfa -- that's a nice thing to do.

:applaud:
for as common as these cabs are, I've always been surprised that no plans were available. It'd be nice if we could figure out the differences between the different versions of the Dynamos.

I'd love to see these. I have the same cabinet with the kick plate but wasn't able to find much documentation on it. I'd also like to know what would be some good representative side art to put on it.
-
That is nice to share. I'd like to know more about the pull out shelf.

Is there a compiled resource for the different Dynamo cabs showing them in a "side by side" manner? It's 1AM and it's kind of hard to recollect what cabinet is what at the moment.
I thought I did have a link to such a thing, but it turned out just to be profile shadows for cabs in general.

This is the best I have found: http://www.drzero.org/videogames/dynamo/ (http://www.drzero.org/videogames/dynamo/)
I've never seen any docs for the HS-5 the OP posted. This is the same kind I have and I'd like more info.

Yep, that's just what I was thinking but where is the HS-9 and the colloquial Z-back?

Does anyone have any drawings or the HS-5 CP? I'd like to have one mfg'd at a local fabrication shop..
Thanks,
Chris

Anything come of this? Has anyone figured a way to get a pristine HS-5 CP, or know where I can get a generic or MAME CPO?
On the flipside, does anyone need any measurements from one? I've got one that is pretty torn up, but I'm just starting to turn it into a MAME box if anyone wants me to take pictures or measure anything..

I know that this is a necrobump of all necrobumps, but i too am trying to reproduce an HS-5 Cabinet. Everybody says that these are super common, yet no information exists for it. I guess the HS-5 is akin to Area 51. Everybody knows it exists, but nobody knows anything about it. :)
I would really kill for any information about this. All I have are the slide out drawer, control panel, Bezel Support, Bezel Glass, Marquee Light board, and the square base that houses the leg levelers. I have nothing else hardware wise and really want to be able to work on the physical cab while I wait to find a replacement CRT tube. (The flyback blew a few days before X-Mas, and when it did it caused a hairline crack in the neck to open up and turn the tube into a 60 pound pile of garbage).
There are plenty of threads on the web about this cab, but all of them never seem to be finished, or the plans/drawings that people do say they made are sent via PM. i'd really like to get this cab built, and have been asking every single person i can find who says they have one to take measurements for me. I'm sure many folks are sick of me by now, lol, but I really, really, REALLY want to reproduce this cabinet.
Thank you to anybody for any help.

ROFL! Yeah.
I've wanted solid plans for the HS-1 myself. That and the Pac-Man/Rally-X cabaret. Just can't find actual plans.

Still...not a bad bump. I love me some Dynamo HS-5. :applaud:
Great cabinets. I also love the pull-out drawer behind the CP's.
Speaking of, the only thing I wish different is the Angle of Incline on the CP's. I used to get wrist cramps from playing because of bending your wrists upward for so long. This makes me think the bat-top joysticks helps lessen that strain since you don't have to grip under the top like you do with a ball-top.
Anyway I've heard people getting custom metal CP's made with less of an angle than the originals so that's good.

I got an HS-5 and am in the process of gutting it for MAME (it's non-distinct, so don't hate). Show me what dimensions you need.

I got an HS-1 too.
