Found this listing for a Computer Space on eBay in Beverly Hills (not mine) - hardly any information given - no photos and hardly any description, but interesting none the less.
The perfect Mame cabinet! (kidding of course!)

0 feedback seller. Very likely a hoax.

I concur, escpecially after seeing what the user name is. I went ahead and posted a request for pictures.
-
these type post should be in the everything else section or perhaps arcade miscellaneus considering there there is no offering for buy sell or trade from the poster.
-
I disagree. The item is for sale.
-
the person that made this post is selling buying or trading it?
if the poster is buying it why post it here?
if the poster is not selling it or trading it why post it here?
there is a thousand machine's for sale on ebay and many other sites so we all should post our own findings here even know we do not own them selling them or trading them?
-
Agreeing with horseboy ... shudder ...
The idea is that people look in this forum for things to buy or sell ... posting the auction elsewhere defeats the purpose.
Nobody is suggesting running out and posting every eBay auction, but items of interest (like, say, a Computer Space) are exactly that, of interest.
Cheers.

No, but that doesn't mean it isn't relevant or not for sale.
if the poster is buying it why post it here?
He isn't.
if the poster is not selling it or trading it why post it here?
Because it is relevant and due to the rarity and history behind that particular title many people would have interest in the auction.

No, that is absolutely ridiculous. :banghead:
If something is of interest to this particular community such as a rare game, a drastically underpriced (cheap) game, etc. Also, non arcade items such as a good deal on a computer that is suitable for mame would fit in here as well.
There are threads like this in Main and Arcade Misc quite often, but I think they are a better fit for this forum. After all they are for sale.
Oh crap, Cheffo agrees with me ... shudder ...
-
if the poster is not buying it selling it or trading it then it should be in the arcade misc. or everything else section. and not in a bst I see it is not a rule here for this forum section but all the other site's bst sections that is a main rule becuase the bst section gets clogged up with non sense and defeats the whole purpose of the bst.
there is a few hundred maybe a thousand plus rare finds all over the net but they all do not belong in a the bst.
just like:
is this possible?
do they make this thing?
where can I get this whatever at?
do you know where I can find so and so?
I heard there making a new whatever.
etc.
these type of things should not be in bst but maybe I am wrong so I apoligize.
-
Yah I posted it here as a general interest item to anyone here who might consider buying a piece of arcade history.
No I am not selling it, but I figured this would be the most appropriate forum on BYOC.
If someone finds a particularly cool or interesting item for sale that relates to the general interests of the community here, I would hope they alert me to it. Which is one of the many reasons I spend way too much time here...!
-
northern -- I disagree (also with your assessment of "all other sites"), but try your suggestion in Forum Discussion -- it is more out of place here in B/S/T than the original posting ...
EDIT: Further, if you think a thread belongs elsewhere, you can always gather up your initiative and click "Report To Moderator".

Well, you can tell Saint that he isn't running this place correctly, but it seems to me that it runs smoothly here. I don't see what any other site's bst section has to do with this one. Do you fear change?
becuase the bst section gets clogged up with non sense and defeats the whole purpose of the bst.
Ya, this thread is really clogging it up around here when you add it to the 2 other new threads from today. ::)

Umm, the b stands for buy. Why would you put those two in any other place. :dunno That doesn't really make any sense.
-
well like I was saying I may be wrong and if so I apoligize I am just use to other sites bst forum rules I guess.
-
There is stuff here in BST that likely belongs somewhere else (the Canadian MAMErs thread has me baffled), but I think interesting auctions, Craigslist items and other items should be in here.
-
northerngames, relax a little bit. you've only been here 3 1/2 months and you want to start telling people what they can post. cool out, have a cold one, and just enjoy this great site. let the mods do the monitoring.

Wow, what a jackhole... Obviously a fraud - I apologize for posting this.
I guess I just had dreams of a mint condition Computer Space living in someones 90210 garage that could be snapped up for a song...
Someday I would like to own one for its historical significance and it's bitchin' modern cab design. Wonder if Nolan Bushnell even has one lurking about in his garage...?
-
The listing was already yanked from ebay

Hehe - at the risk of being yelled at by ng...

You'd have to point one out. In several years in this hobby I've never seen proof of an arcade museum that has this type of capital.
-
maybe we should start one?
:dizzy:
-
I'm sure almost any of us would love to do that, were any of us independently wealthy.
-
yep that seems to my problem also, lack of wealth.
