Hey Guys,
I was going to buy a used laptop or pc and mame it to my lcd..then use wireless controls to play..just wondering do they make a product that will wirelessly send a pc video/sound to a tv? then i could use my pc in a different room? how far would a wireless remote go?
just curious...i will check google later...just thought someone may have done it.....i am thinking it may be easier to just by another pc/laptop....anylinks much appreciated

x10.com makes really cheap RF video/sound wireless senders. You get what you pay for though, so be aware. I note this option only to prevent you from dumping 60$ or whatever it costs now-a-days.

I've used the X10 product and range is limited and if you fire up a microwave oven within a couple hundred feet it scatters the signal. I really wouldnt recommend the product.

My gripe was a 900mhz cordless phone. But yeah.. don't buy that stuff.

I had one and it worked very well. Of course, I was only sending it about 8', from the floor above to a spot directly under it downstairs.

Yea I wouldnt go with x10 although their return policy is good. I think i may just buy a used pc(compact one) or laptop.

i don't know if it will help but,
i've been thinking about adding a dedicated walljack and running the line for it into the basement to a computer their for videos and mame.
I just have to see if using VNC will give me a good enough connection to control the second computer from my laptop

Your major problem isn't going to be the x10 and it working. Your problem is going to be latency.
I imagine you will get frustrated because your controls will be out of sync from what you are seeing.

Yea I am pretty sure now that I will go just buy a seprate laptop or compact pc that blends with my PVR and audio reciever.
