Hi guys could you recommend a good place for me to buy Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 cp overlays/ marquee art work kits etc. Iv looked everywhere and cant find a thing.
-
What companies did you use and what did you like/dislike about them?
Everybody seems to recommend mamemarquees for a lot of stuff
They have 2 versions of the MK3 marquee and also say on the main page that they have a lot of stuff not listed as they haven't had time to put them in yet. I would send them an email and see if they have what you want
-
I did email them but no reply
-
really struggling to find anything for mortal kombat 3 tried ebay as well any help guys?
-
I've been looking for the MK3 CPO aswell, I found one but it's not the one I was aiming for, hope this helps! ;D

Thnks mate I did see that one but it wasn't what I was after either It was very wxpensive too for what it is. I'll keep searching and If I find anything I will let you know mate. Wish I was pretty good at art I could knock something up based on original.
-
I'm looking for this one myself..
Not really sure if it's an original one though.
My guess about the expenses for an MK3 CPO or any MK CPO for that matter is that unless you get lucky on Ebay or something like that, investments are necessery to obtain one. :-\
We'll keep in touch in case one of us gets a hold of a nice one!
-
Yeah I found that one too but there's no contact details for that guy on his site so couldn't ask him where he got it. My favorite cab is this one by MKFAN I like his control panel but it is an original he got off ebay. Iv been searching for months now but no such look on e-bay.
-
The one I displayed was from Ebay aswell.
No such luck indeed! :dunno
-
Well live in hope shame there is nothing available on mamemarquees or any other sites. This kinda sucks as I cant complet my arcade now may have to re think another Midway style.
-
I hear you man!
You would think that MK3 CPO shouldn't be that hard to come by considering all the other Mortal Kombat CPO's are availeble one way or the other...
Maybe someone here could scan his or something ;D
The search goes on..
-
Yes im sure in time it will be available
-
I have the CPO and Decals available if you wish to purchase. I also have the marquee. All pieces NOS.
Thanks.
Send me a PM if interested.

I have an actual MK3 CP from a dedicated machine. It has the buttons, joys, plexi and all the wires. I'd let it go cheap as well, but remember MK has a wood piece, then a metal piece and finally a plexi cover. I'd let it go rather cheap (say $60) but the shipping might be a bit crazy.
Open to anyone, I'm in TX if you would like a pic up and save on shipping. Email or PM me. (take out the dog)

Hi guys, This is my first forum so be gentle.. I feel your pain when it comes to finding art for this cab! like you i have spent the better part of a year looking for MK3 art. I finally found a dedicated MK3 cab in pretty good shape. I have spent the last 4 months scanning all the art from the control panel cpo, front, and sides of the control panel and fixing everything with photoshop. I have finished the control panel artwork and i am now working on the side art of the cab! My machine came out looking great! I would be happy to send the pictures to ya! All you have to do is take them to a good printing place and your all set! When i get the side art done i will hook you up with those pics as well! I am new to this so let me know how to get you the pics!
-
Sounds great man! I never got a reply for my offer, but since you are doing all that work with your art, you should look into vectorizing it instead of just scanning it for photoshop, That will really be something that can then be added to the online art collection.
-
Thanks for the heads up! I will look into vectorizing this art! I am also working on a killer instinct and total carnage as well :banghead:

Awesome! Can't wait to check out your work.

why on earth do you want to vectorise this art ??
good and accurate scan will be the best way to have something accurate.

Good question. You can check out the Wiki for the answer:

LOL you tell me to read the FAQ about vector vs raster :laugh2: :laugh2:
did you read it ??
you understood the avantage of vector, but did you imagine the limitation of vector tracing such kind of image ??
cranes and bones are nearly impossible to restitute correctly.
vector is the way to go for simples images wich few colors, and distinct separation between the colors. in the case of quite photo-realistic images is quite impossible to have a good repro.
please don't talk to me about Yukio Miyamoto (http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~yukio-m/intro/index.html) or Kevin Hulsey (http://www.khulsey.com/) work.
-
may I suggest you read this http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamoover.net%2Findex.php%3Find%3Dreviews%26op%3Dentry_view%26iden%3D10&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamoover.net%2Findex.php%3Find%3Dreviews%26op%3Dentry_view%26iden%3D10&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools)
it's an automatic translation
but please pay attention to this
iN the other hand, the vectorial Images being composed of superimposed simple forms, and although the superposition of various elements make it possible to obtain results realistic, it is more difficult to restore with this format of the images of the photographs type.
by the way if someone feels the need to translate it and include it in the wiki, be my guest :D

Sorry, did not mean to offend you. If it is to hard for you to do it, I understand. I just thought based on what I have seen here vector would be the way to go. If you are not able to do it or if it is not the best way to do it fine, but I have seen people use vector for control panels and side art with similar levels of detail and they didn't seem to have any problems.
-
Sorry, did not mean to offend you.
I'm not. :D
I'm just tired of people wanted to vectorize everything and nothing.
I just thought based on what I have seen here vector would be the way to go.
vector IS the way to go for simple (errrm quite simple images) not for art with photorealistic effects.
in this case, it just involves an amount of time and effort I can't afford.
and furthermore I'm sure that the result will look crap in regards to a good scan. I've traced some art (search for zorg by authors name on AAL) and I admit that I will not even give a try to such repro.
people must understand the limitation of vector tracing.
but I have seen people use vector for control panels and side art with similar levels of detail and they didn't seem to have any problems.
I would love to see the examples.
regards
-
No problem. I understand what you mean for photo realistic art. I guess he should do it for the control panels if possible and use scans for the MK photo's on the sides.
Thanks for your input, I will check out your art when I get a chance.
Hey since you do so much of this, any chance you could do the work for a game called Trog? I need to print new artwork for my cab and it's not available yet!
-
any chance you could do the work for a game called Trog?
do you have accurate material to start tracing from it ? Hi Res scan ?

I'll PM you so we don't jack this thread any further.
-
I'm going to throw my hat into the UMK3 restoration ring.
I can't believe how freakin' hard it is to get any images/NOS/vector for this game! :banghead:
Vaderkiller - You are man! I'll buy you a beer if you can get those scans done.
Is there a way for us to download what you have done already?
-
Hey ZENO... I will take you up on that beer! The scans are huge! Rar'd up the cpo art is 22mb.. I will pm you so we can figure out how to get you the art ;D The side art is taking me alot longer than i thought, but eventually i will get it done! The control panel art came out looking great though ;D If you guys know where i can put this art for everybody to grab, let me know!!
-
I can host the files. pm me for the details
-
then go find an MKII CPO to scan for me. mamemarquees has one, but I need the origial scan to edit for my MAME cab =)
My UMK3 machien will be here this week, in a dedicated MKII cab, that I plan to convert (revert?) back to MKII
-
Thanks for the offer zorg! A buddy of mine let me throw them on his site..www.sncboom2k.com/mortalart/ ;D Give me feedback on the pics, as i am working on more games and would like your opinion's on these! I will be posting more pic's as i get them done!
-
Just one word, keep up the good work :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:, and go for more and more games.
-
Thanks Vaderkiller!
I'm downloading tonight and will report back.
How is the sideart coming along? Huge, right?
-
The side-art is MASSIVE :o I still have a lot of work to do, but it is looking great so far!!
-
I have the CPO I peeled off of this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290126612910&indexURL=1&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting
if you want it, I'll mail it to you on my dime. its kinda beat up but totally free, otherwise it goes into the trash
EDIT: It was in really bad shape after removing it, so it's been trashed, sorry
-
Does anyone on this thread still have the artwork? I am in the same place you guys were a year ago and I haven't been able to find any of the artwork. The link doesn't work any longer, but I have to imagine that it is somewhere! Thanks in advance.
-
I still have a spare metal dedicated CPO fo r both MK3 and MK4. I also have a custom one that came with the MK4 panel AND I havemost of the conversion kit stickers too. Whatchu need?
-
Well, I created a new CPO for my Ultimate MK3 cab which has a trackball and a bunch of other buttons. I really just wanted the artwork so that I could create my own layout and then print it out since the original artwork won't really work out too well since it labels the buttons and joystick. I should still stick with the UMK theme since the marquee and sideart are pretty cool. I have the exact machine that you have as your avatar.
I REALLY like the generic panel that was posted on this thread with the blue/purple background though, you wouldn't happen to have that or know where I can get that would you?
-
probably beating a dead horse here, being that this post is from a very long time ago, BUT did anyone ever layer the art into a psd?
would love to make my own cab but i cannot find a decent file to accommodate for a street fighter style deck.
any help is appreciated
