The monitor by itself could be worth $350 if in good repair.
-
Black and white vector monitors are not worth $350. More in the $250 range if recently shopped well.
That game is well worth $350 if it works and is in decent shape.
-
Asteroids Deluxe is in color though, if I recall correctly.
--Edit: No it's not, the vectors aren't white but it's monochrome, duh. :)
-
AD was B&W with a color overlay, not color vector monitor.
Cheers.
-
Yep, AD is a "white only" game, with an overlay, black light, and glow in the dark bezel. Really, AD is not as good a game as Space Duel, but the overall design presentation is way better.
-
Is Astroids Deluxe better, worse or the same as the original astroids?
Is this on the list of "games to have" in your collection od is it mearly ok?
-
All Atari vectors are on the "get if you can" list.
I think AD is a much better game to have than Asteroids. Better cab, "updated" gameplay, and there are about a billion and a half Asteroids cabs out there. Not so for AD.
-
I would have to agree with chad ... I love my Asteroids, but still have my eye on three AD cabs I know are sitting in a garage relatively local to me!
Cheers.
-
FWIW, I have AD and Space Duel sitting across from one another. It's a hard choice between those two.
In our house, SD is the only one of the two that gets any play.
AD doesn't work.
-
Asteroids Deluxe is MUCH better than the original. THe presentation is really cool (what with the relfected background imagery, black lighting, etc). $350 = bargain!
-
Ya, the reflected image was neato. I wasn't good at any of them, but I especially didn't get Space Duel. Loved the colors, though. In any case, even to my inexperienced sense for games, that price sounds good if it runs well.

Get one for me too, put it in a really big bubble envelop and mail to Europe.....
I almost got a defective AD here, but someone snatched it up just before me. It went for WAY more than that price (defective !!) you mention, but they are much more rare here I guess......
I wouldn't think twice about it...

Provided it's fully working AND you like the game - get it. The price is more than fair, if not pretty good.

That's the Key issue right there. I'm not sure how bad I "want" to have it...
I like asteroids...but do I $350 like astroids? I havn't been able to answer that.
Really what it comes down to is my budget...and space and peaceful cohabitation with the Ms. I went from 0 cabs to two in a month and I'm really happy with them.
I think I have to pass this time...since I really don't have the $$$ to get it right now. (Is it sad that I'm still tempted?)
I'll still watch the add, who knows... if the price drops my I might have to act. (to save it, right?)
-
Well then at least tell people where it's located, etc, so someone else can get it!
-
Poof! it sold...
Congrats to whoever gave it a good home.
PS. too late but it was in Northern CA.
