Title: Anyone ever used a logitech trackball?
Post by: smocksam on April 13, 2003, 10:16:17 am
I've been looking for a trackball for my cp, but haven't come across anything that I really like so far.

I already have a trackman marble FX ball that looks like this.

It does its job pretty well.  I've been brainstorming about how to mount it in my cab.  It wouldn't be seeing much if any use for games, but mainly just navigation.

Have any of you succefully done this?  And has anyone done it without having to completely thrash the trackball?

I had an old logitech marble man trackball based on same technology (or at least an older generation of the same tech, I think) as the marble FX.  It had a lot of backspin problems in windows when the ball was spun fast.  (also had a smaller ball).

If you aren't having backspin problems with your marble FX, you could try to mount it, but I think it won't be easy; that left side of the case gets in the way, and otherwise is a funky space.  Haven't tried it, though.

I'm thinking of taking the dremel to it, and cutting away all excess material that isn't needed....  it wouldn't be pretty, but should be functional

Anyone got any other ideas?

Have you had a look at this site, this mame cabinet has a logitech trackball installed.

Might be worth dropping the guy a mail and asking for some advice.
