Title: Does the LED-Wiz need Resistors
Post by: lettuce on April 06, 2007, 11:40:20 am
If you are using the LED-Wiz do you need to solder resistors to the LED's or does the LED-Wiz output the correct voltage to the LEDs?? Also you you need to get different coloured LED's or can you just get white LED's and use the LED=Wiz to change the colour of the LED's??

short answer = Yes

Long answer = "The LEDWiz distributes 5v power to each contact.  The intensity can also be controlled via software for the device.  However a resister of the proper ohms is required to keep from blowing the LED."

To get the different colors you would need to use colored LEDs for a single or the RGB LEDs for the rainbow of colors to choose from.  You change the intensity of the three emiters in the RGB LED to get the color of choice.
