With a metal cutting blade, a jigsaw will work perfect.  Don't use a wood blade, though, or it will be a rough way to go.  A metal cutting blade will be somewhere around 32TPI, I think.  Mine isn't handy at the moment, but I'm sure someone else can say for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking jigsaw would be the way to go there.  Tin snips would also be a simple way to do it, but it would probably be a pretty ugly cut.

Hacksaw and a file to clean it up after.

I'd be afraid a jigsaw blade would break and take your hand off!

It'll take about 6 firm strokes with a hacksaw to get through a piano hinge. Piece of cake.

I used a 1/8" slot cutting bit for my t-moulding in 5/8" wood and it worked fine. (hotglue to keep it in place) A 1/16" bit is optimum and it'll be plenty strong. No worries.

I was wondering if you actually did cut metal using jigsaw?
Did ya?
Just wanna make sure...
Brax,I dont know about handsaw...really works..?
I will go to home depot now and buy both hand saw and metal cutting jigsaw blade to see which works for me.

Yes, of course.  Many times.  In fact, that's pretty much all I use my jigsaw for.  See the piano hinge here,  http://www.skum.org/bartop/finish.htm, I cut that one with my jigsaw.

HACKsaw. Yup, it will work. A piano hinge is practically tin. It'll cut through it like butter. Either will work fine.
