You cannot run mame32 but there is a version of mame for the psp.  It handles a limited number of games.

Its been a while since I had MAME on my PSP, mainly because it stunk. Very limited # of games supported and barely any of them ran at proper speed. Perhaps later builds are better. I found I liked playing the NES ports of arcade games better than the actual games since the NES emulation was excellent.

this probably doesn't help much BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...
last summer i had a snes emulator on my psp, and at the time, it ran most games at near full speed (i.e. i had to turn frameskip on, but VERY low)
genesis on the other hand ran perfect for me
n64 is making progress, apparently you can run mario64 now at a playable speed

i have also been hearing that gba emulation is spot on
your best bet is to just install them and try them out
with the most current custom firmware it's as easy as dragging files to a pen drive

ouch, that is what worries me, the whole firmware thing.

never have owned a psp so not sure about changing firmwares and not damaging the psp.

another question, is the Roms and emeulators (nes, snes, etc) used in the psp, the same as the ones used on the PC? or are the special emulators? and how do u run them? do you just copy them to a memory stick and run them the same way u would on a PC?

SNES was a mixed experience. Some of the simpler games ran fine, but some of my favorites like Contra had pretty bad slowdown. Like the NES, the Genesis emulator was great.

The original SNES version has slowdown even on a SNES!

I'm talking 2 frames per second. Unplayable slowdown.

emulation is the same.  you pick your game and hit o to start it and it loads and you play.  triggers are for going to the menu for save states and the rom list to change game or to change settings.  you use the same roms.

what i want is the star wars vector on the psp (i havent tried mame for psp yet but id imagine it isnt supported).
