I have my whole cp wired, is there anything I need to do besides plug my ipac4 in, it didn't come with the winpac that the ultimarc site says should come on a cd, so I don't know what to do.
-
Did you get a driver CD? If so, install the drivers. If not, contact Ultimarc. You might be able to D/L the drivers from their website. Or get someone to zip them and e-mail them to you (maybe even me!)
Then, just use the connector to connect your IPAC to your keyboard PS2 input and play.

I didn't get a drivers cd, is that the same as the winpac thing, cuz i just found where i can get that on the ultimarc site, i downloaded the winpac, so if that is the drivers, where do i put them when i download them, cuz they are on my desktop now, and if it isn't the drivers, then can you send me the drivers or can anyone send me them and tell me where to put them?
-
ok i'm installing winIPAC and it says the ipac doesn't need drivers so i might be good to go, but thanks.
-
No drivers and you only need WinIpac if you don't want to use the default keys. (OTOH, a couple of inputs are repeated/not assigned by default, so you likely will eventually want to use it).

i have it working, except for a button or two, and the fact that by default, mame maps p2 buttons 5 and 6 to the same buttons as p3 up and down, but that' shouldn't be a problem because no/hardly any games with p3 in them would use buttons 5 and 6 on p2, but anyway, as for the p2 coin button that doesn't work, and a few that are slow to respond it works, any advice on the non workers or the slow ones?

None should be slow to resond. Can you tell us which ones those are? Also, check out the LED on the board itself. When you power on, it flashes. If it flashes once and then stays lit, that means everything is wired properly. If it flashes more than once, you need to count the number of flashes and check out the table on Andy's site. That will tell you/us which input has an issue. It could be a grounding problem or being wired to NO etc.
You may have to check the number of LED flashes, find/fix a problem, and look at the LED again. That will let you know if everything is ok or if another input needs looked at.

ok thanks i might look at that later tonight, does anyone know how to fix these few problems I'm having:
default wires p2 buttons 5 and 6 to p3 up and down, which is a minor hardly a big deal problem
when i hit the alt mapped button of p1 button 2 and then enter mapped on p3, the screen goes small
some of the other buttons might be double mapped like one person hits a button and another person punches, these problems all occured in the xmen playing 3 players in the 4 player side scroller.
why does it do this default, and if i change it, won't i have to change all my game configs to go with it?

Remap P3 Up and Down to something else using WinIpac, reconfigure MAME.
when i hit the alt mapped button of p1 button 2 and then enter mapped on p3, the screen goes small
Start any game in MAME: Press Tab - Input (General) - User Interface - Toggle Fullscreen - Enter - Esc - Enter - close menu (map to NONE).

MAME doesn't define any of the Player 2 buttons above 4 or any of the Player 4 defaults.
Yes.

I am gonna leave problem one be, as i don't think it is a problem, i fixed the screen thing, and all else is well, except the non working button and maybe a slow button or two, i'm on that now
-
if it helps:
it's p2 coin not working and p1 and p3 start that are slow, all non gameplay devastators
-
ok if i unplug the wire that goes into the ipac from pc it like flashes rapidly, hard to tell how many times, 3 maybe, and beeps, then stays on, the one led does that the other just turns on and stays on
edit: it is 2 or 3 fast blinks
edit: now looking at the Ultimarc site, it lists nothing for those flashes on the IPAC/4, so I'll just investigate the slow and off button's ports and buttons and wires etc...i'll let ppl know how it goes.
thanks everyone

It's a potential problem, because if you are playing a two player game and someone bumps the P3 stick, or a 3-player game and P2 decides to mash buttons 4-6 to mess with the P3 character's position.
Otherwise, it won't hurt anything!!!
