I have a Donkey Kong Jr that I am adding a 48-in-1 board to. I am using a Double Donkey Kong marquee, the DK Jr. bezel, one side will have DK side art and the other DK Jr side art. I have decided to modify the control panel to accomodate 2 buttons and since I am doing that, I have decided to modify the CPO slightly as well. I am looking for opinions here...good bad or otherwise. I was considering shrinking the instruction card to take up 1/4 of the space, then adding the DK instruction card to the other 1/4, then adding MULTICADE instructions at the bottom half but I am not sure...
This is what I have thus far....

Overall I like it.
Here is what I like:
The instruction card is a plus. I wish more people used those.
Here is what I would consider:
Are you using blank buttons for player 1 and player 2 or are you getting the buttons with stick figures on them? If you are using the buttons with stick figures then get rid of 1-player 2player text.
At the bottom where it says 1982 Nintendo - I would change that to something more personal. Maybe something like "Leapinlew rocks" or whatever - you get what I mean.

Yah...the top is cluttered a bit...how about this version (will make it easier to line up the current holes as well)...I added a little more regular DK artwork too...do I really need a sign that says "controller"?
...and while the cabinet will have more than just DK and DK Jr...I am thinking of dropping the "MULTICADE" part...it would give it more proportion as well...
-
Looks good. Is it 22.5"? Thats what I remember my Nintendo cabinet being.
Only possible thing I'd do is color in the trapjaw (Or whatever that white thing is). I know white is it's original color - which is weird since their isn't a white one in the game.
-
Yup Lew...the original "Photoshop" file is the correct size. I am now experimenting with adding both the DK and DKJr instruction card...I was also considering just putting the marquees of all 48 games available (or breaking down the number of 4-way games in the 48-in-1 and putting those marquees as I will be using the original DK Jr. Joystick which is 4-way).
Not sure which way I will go yet.

I was a little bored this morning and decided to throw in some barrels, change the colors of things to more match the game. I made Mario's shirt blue, the snapper blue, changed the color of Mario's face and hands and changed the bird to purple...I figure what the hell, it's not going to be original anyway...

I guess it's getting a little cluttered now. I'd drop the original mario artwork, or make it more prominent.
As for the marquee - I'd stick with the donkey kong theme. Your other marquees already have the multi-marquee look.

Maybe i'll try dropping the DK artwork under the joystick and perhaps drop in a flame guy or something...if I remove it, it then doesn't look in proportion...and there is a lot of empty space there.....hmmm...
EDIT: Another try...and maybe i'll put Marios whip back...though he doesn't have a whip in the game...but that would have been cool

Looks great!
I can see how the shapes around the "button 1" and "button 2" add to the clutter, but I feel like they would definitely add to the authenticity of the artwork...
Maybe making the characters a little bit smaller can give some more visual breathing room... I'd say give it a try and see what you think.. Since the artwork is going to be printed big it's not really going to be a problem seeing them..
Looks authentic and on the mark!

My biggest worry is that the artwork wouldn't line up with my current CP 100% correct and that the button wouldn't sit exactly "on center" with the shapes around it. Removing them (and actually, I will remove the while circles before printing as well) makes it real easy and allows for much more room for error.

This is what I went with...sent to a member here to be printed...sure hope it comes OK decent...

Looks good. I'd be happy with that.
oh, and good luck with the 3rd elevator stage
