I remember corresponding with the teachers when they first put this out there last year... it's not bad, really.

If you want to learn a billion times more with about the same time investment, I highly suggest The Black Art of Video Game Console Design (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Video-Game-Console-Design/dp/0672328208/ref=sr_1_1/002-0351061-6772805?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175730057&sr=8-1).  I'm reading through this now and it is absolutely ---smurfing--- amazing in terms of how much I'm learning, how easily I'm learning it, and how enjoyable the book is... right up there with Project Arcade in terms of depth and far more technical without sacrificing understandability.

You do realize that book comes with the course and the course was designed by the author of that book.  If the book is as good as you say, then the course is probably really good too.  I have one or two books by LaMothe and they also are pretty good.

Is that so?  I honestly don't remember that as the case but hell, I spoke with them last year, so it could be.  The course was still being advertised at that time and hadn't actually run yet IIRC.  I do remember that much of the first people to see the listing weren't gripped by it but I think they were expecting too much out of a single semester course.

From the link Saint put up:
"Besides the software and course materials that are available on the website, you will also receive a complete hardware kit containing over 100+ components, including items such as: pre-manufactured printed circuit board, microcontrollers, “The Black Art of Video Game Console Design by Andre LaMothe” paperback book, soldering iron, digital multimeter, Nintendo gamepad controller, resistors, capacitors, LEDs, and much more!"

and from Saints description:
"The course was developed by best selling game developement author Andre' LaMothe and NASA Ames Research Center's Josh Hintze."

Right.  I can't see the link from here right now.

As I said, I corresponded with them when it was first offered, which was a while ago.  It seems much more fleshed out now than it was then.
