Does anyone know if an expanded Control Panel has been designed for the Project Arcade? I want to take Saint's Project Arcade cabinet and change it to a 4-player CP. I'm looking for plans/measurements to modify JUST the CP. Thanks, all.

I won't bump this again, but I just wanted to make sure it stays active for a day or 2 more. I've seen plenty of 4-player CPs on this site but I can't find any modified measurements for the Project Arcade cabinet CP. I can probably do a little math and make my own, but if the wheel's already been invented... :)
Thanks,
Jim

I don't think there's anything "official" out there. Your best bet would probably be to size the 2P CP and compare it to 4P CPs that other have built or that have been used on real arcade games and come up with a dimension you think is adequate...
I never think the amount of 4P games and their level of fun is worth the extra space on the CP and the expense involved in building it... but then again I've never in my life played a 4P game with 4 people so I'm probably missing out on something... besides TMNT, X-Men, NBA Jam, The Simpsons and Gauntlet what else is there that people play?

Ahhh, I see... thanks - you just confirmed that I will never ever build a 4P cab for myself unless in 30 years I've exhausted all of the cab designs in the world and it's the only one left to build (because let's face it, I'd build one just to do it - not necessarily to play!).

I haven't fully decided on a 4P vs 2P cabinet yet, BUT...
I have the fondest memories of playing Gauntlet with 3 other friends... we used to go once a month to the arcade with the "mandatory 10$" (what we called it to buy into the game). You'd get 5 tokens per $1 and we'd play for hours. Gauntlet truly is at its most fun when all 4 player positions are being used.
(What I'm actually considering NOW is building a dedicated Gauntlet cabinet AFTER I build my initial cab... wife will just love that)

Big console fan eh, Javeryh? I was going to say that I stopped playing consoles before they had 4 player games, but then I realized that the paddle controllers on the 2600 were joined together weren't they, two pairs of controllers? I really stopped playing consoles during the NES phase myself, with the exception of borrowing something (PS-one I think?) from my cousin at some point to play Driver and Metal Gear Solid.
I agree that there are too few game to make it worth it. I will need a wheel and lightguns way before I need players 3 and 4.

Actually, I'm a huge console fan but I'd never build a cab for one (except maybe the Dreamcast but even then it would be for Street Fighter III and MvsC2 - nothing that required 4 players). Do a lot of people build cabinets for consoles? It doesn't seem like a console game would be much fun on a cabinet...
I completely agree with you though - I will definitely need a wheel and lightguns way before I need 4 players.
