Yet another CP review request... I'm following Lusid's plans somewhat
but really want to get 4 player action vs trackball/spinner etc.
I saw a lot of CP's that used extra wide panels, but for my
game room was hoping to get something a bit narrower.
The CP box is already cut but not the holes for joysticks/buttons
yet. Any good feedback welcome, thanks!

You can read discussion about if P3 and P4 should have their joys mounted at an angle or not. My suggestion is to do a mockup of what type, play on it and see how it feels.
I tried using angled joys on one CP and found it didn't work as well as I thought. YMMV.

I would stand at your mockup with a friend, and see if you think playing SF2 or similar games would be comfortable. 36" wide for 4 players will have you all shoulder to shoulder, I think.
-
I found out the hard way. Make your mock ups before you cut wood. Otherwise you will have to try and extend the CP or start over.

Thanks! Got a few ideas, think I might still be ok here... will post again when more is done.

Has anyone ever made a 4-player control panel in which the 3rd/4th player joysticks can slide out to the right/left a bit and they be pushed back in when not in use?
I am not referring to a modular control panel in which the joystick panels can be removed or even a rotating control panel, but rather sliding the joysticks out (like spreading wings) on the control panel andthen when done, pushing the outer joysticks (3rd/4th player joys) back in towards the center of the control panel.
If you do it right, seems like a trackball could be hidden underneath the sliding "wings" so when both joysticks are slid outwards, the trackball would be seen underneath .......
