For Christ's sake... do whatever it takes, keep the woman happy, doesn't matter what you have to do... look what you're in line (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2816598) for!
:banghead: :banghead:

Maybe you have not been in a situation with a woman that when enough is enough.... nothing else matters, least of all getting a great job over feeling well in your life.
-
Being the most powerful man in all of pro sports isn't just a job.
-
Steinbreiner is a rich man, but I definitely don't think of him as a happy man.
Anyways, the guy is still a partial owner of the organization. He can still get rich with a buyout.
-

That's very shallow and naive.
-
Not really. We're talking about a one in a billion opportunity.
-
So you're saying you'd live your life unhappy for alot of cash and power?
-
I'm saying I think you're reading more into the "unhappy" than is probably there. Looks like the guy was just fine, it's the Steinbrenner family that decided they didn't want him around anymore.
-
"The dumbest man alive" Yes, Yes you are. ;D
-
You've made me unhappy. Now you owe me cash and power.
-
NO! Now you need to get out of a bad situation and become happy. :banghead:
-
Then why are you still here? :laugh2:
-
I disagree that he's the dumbest man alive.
Assuming the couple has been through counseling and whatever, maybe it's just time for Swindal to move on from the loveless marriage he's in. There are more important things than money and power. To Swindal, I guess those include booze and broads. :)
I personally wish that baseball had some kind of salary cap, so maybe the Brewers or Rangers would have a chance.
-
It's not just money and power, it's being the driving force behind the national pastime. Steinbrenner holds the keys to major league baseball. That is worth more than an already bad marriage, IMO. They should stay in the marriage so he can get that spot. It's the Catholic thing to do, after all.
-
He might not be the dumbest man alive. For all we know he was trying his damnedest to keep her happy until the job was his. Maybe he did everything he could think of and just didn't have the skill to hold his marriage together long enough to get the job. Poor bastard. :)

Well, they have the luxury tax. Not a cap, but it is in the same spirit.
-
It doesn't work as intended. It was supposed to stop teams like Boston and NY from going over a soft cap. Turns out they still go over and just eat the tax.

That's most of the problem with baseball... One person being the driving force behind it.
-
Unless you're that one person. Then it's cool.

Chad, stop posting in this thread already, your big hat can't fit on your big ass any longer.

This is my thread. You stop posting in it.

Tommy...unless you want to change NFL to MLB and change the helmet to a Steroid Pill, you may want to take Chads advise.
People still watch baseball? Hell, watching the lawn grow is more exciting....

Glad I'm not the only one. And hasn't American Idol taken over as the official national pastime now?

That, unfortunately, is seeming to be true. As far as the Swindal thing goes, everyone knows he's really been running it for years while Steinbrenner takes old man naps. I'd bet money that Swindal tried to keep the marriage up (not necessarily for the right reasons), but when it's done, it's done.
Also, when you have that much money like Swindal does, you think you're omnipotent. That is, until you get caught and photographed by Page Six in a car with a tranny hooker...not that that happened to Swindal, but, you get the drift. :)
The entire structure of the organization needs to be revamped anyways. If anyone has bright ideas on that, let'r rip.
