Title: Art Deco Jukebox - Led Light Grid Videos
Post by: digitaldj on March 28, 2007, 12:08:57 am
Hello Everyone!

I have finally put together some videos of my Led Light Grid project. I have posted my site which includes pages showing the complete project of the jukebox, light grid and software. If you have time check it all out even though it is still under construction I am finally showing what the lighting can do.

Enjoy!

Watching your movies makes me want to start on my Disco floor. What you have done is so cool! I want to build an other Juke just to run these up the sides. I can't wait to see the bars installed on your Juke.

Someone needs to build a MAME cab that uses these too and reacts to the soounds of the game being played.

Clanggedin,

I have just got a response back from Clint that has built a disco dance floor and has written his own software and thinks they are tight. He also wanted to look at our code to see how we pulled it off for sound control. I am going to talk with Jan my programming friend to see what we can do for him. So you may see it show up in the disco dance floor software soon.

If i get enough interest for the Light Grids i may release the how to do it your self plans and the circuit boards i had made if somebody wants to build them half round like I did.

I have one more I am finishing now and as soon as i get it done and checked out i will be mounting them in the juke.

I am also in the process of designing my own boards that will have less circuitry and better pwm control which will be even better for sound control.

Greetings!
Kevin

Keep me posted on your controls. I'd be interested in purchasing a couple of boards.

It would be neat if you could combine 2 half rounds into a full cylinder and have the text rotate completely around it.

I'm not sure how practical it would be, but it would look really cool.

Very inovative light column design.  Detail and craftsmanship on the build are first rate.   Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks BoBA,

I plan on it also being used for RGB Scrolling Text Signs and will also do the patterns.

I just got a message from my programmer friend and it looks like were going to have alot more software control. One of the things i wanted to add was a control for varying the interaction of colors with the sound like intensity controls. What my friend came up with based on that idea was a square on the screen with a rainbow of rgb colors that allows you to tweak the spectrum. This is nice for example on the fire pattern if you want to add in more yellow etc. The next thing Jan is working on is better pattern control and using almost any GDI api stuff, e.g.
stretching, drawing, TEXT! output.
