So I decided to hack xbox controllers, and I think thats the easiest way to do it. Cause I want to make sure that all the controls work well. And that way I'll be putting some effort into this project. And I can solder pretty good. I tested how I could do this with an arcade stick that I have for my xbox, and I soldered it up and it worked right, so I know that I can get it to work like I need it too. So then I just decided to get another arcade stick, and use the boards on them. Cause Thats easiest for me to do. This is the layout that I cam up with, and I would like some input from some of the veterans in this hobby.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I will have two of these on the CP, and I'll be using the same housing as I had with the MERCS cabinet. So there will be plenty of room. Thanks.

here is maybe a better layout with the start and select still on the left, just not pictured.

Still need your opinions.

Some comments:
1. The buttons are too far apart.
2. The buttons look like they are on a 45 degree angle - I think it might be more comfortable if they were at a 20-30 degree angle - or maybe 2 rows lined up on top of each other like the blue, yellow and orange are positioned.
2. I don't think that the Start and Select buttons are in a good location. When you are resting your left hand on the panel I think you will be accidentally hitting them quite often.

Like this (but more even since I did this in 30 seconds in Paint):

Ok so I redid it with what you have said and I've came up with this

I think that it will work well, as the start and select/back have been moved to infront of the joystick, and the others where reangled.
