Title: need some advice
Post by: tma on April 11, 2003, 01:18:21 am
Hi,
I considering getting a leafswitch 4-way joystick for my panel.
I'm uncertain if I should put one in my existing panel above the player 1 controls or build another panel with a 4-way and maybe some Ikari style/rotary sticks.
I really just want the 4-way but don't want to clutter up the panel, so I need some advice  ;D

thanks

I's move the spinner to the left and put the 4-way where the spinner is

wouldn't that give you bloody knuckles though, CF?

If you're that worried about clutter... maybe go with t-sticks where your current 8 ways are (just an idea)

Otherwise I think your original idea/placement seems feasible for the 4 way...  *shrug*

Would agree with CitiznFish, but put the Spinner over the right Buttons (If you're right handed).

But surely everyone here would suggest something else: You are on your own  :)

Actually I'm happy where I put the spinner, it stays clear when I'm playing one of my fav. games(world class bowling)...and Tempest :)
If I were to put the joystick there, like rampy said, I would end up with busted fingers :(
Can you guys provide some info or a link to the jsticks and tsticks.
(are the tsticks like the oscar restrictor plates?)
I also read some info on the Happ Super sticks.  What's your opinion on the use of 4-way on the super?

-btw I have the ultimates(8-way) right now  :o  ;)

Are these 4-way?...I noticed similar ones said 8-way.

I thought I'd pipe in.  I recently tried my J-sticks (ball top) in 8 way mode for diagonal 4 way games like Q*bert and Congo Bongo.  They work flawlessly!  I'd encourage anyone to try these sticks who doesn't want a dedicated 4 way.  So far the only drawback I've found with these is I have to lift the CP to switch them.

I usually leave player 1 as a 4 way and player 2 as an 8 way.  I set up 4 way diagonal games with the player 2 stick.  As long as we're not playing simultaneous 2 player games, that covers a lot of bases.  If we're going to play 2 player games, it takes all of 30 seconds to lift the panel to switch them.
