I want to buy more RAM for my dad's computer, but don't know what will work with it. Here is what he has:
1 - 256 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM DIMM (according to some software that spit that out to me)
His computer seems to be capable of handling at least 1GB (and I think that's what I'd like to upgrade to). So, are there kinds of memory I should stick to, stay away from? Where should I get it? Links?
Thanks!

I don't know what type of motherboard it has or anything, but anything PC3200 to PC2100 should work. It would be cheapest to get it in a single 1GB stick and keep the the 256 stick in as well. Here is a link for a 1 GB stick of Corsair Value RAM from newegg. I've used it in quite a few builds and it is highly compatible.

Good luck.
PS. Be careful if you try and get 2x512mb sticks and make sure they are not dual-channel memory as motherboards that do not support dual-channel RAM will probably only recognize one chip, if it works at all.

Interesting. His motherboard is a Micro-Star International Co., LTD MS-6390 (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/km266.htm), if that helps.
Thanks!
