Title: Arcade Warehouse Sale posted on Phoenix Craigslist
Post by: somunny on March 22, 2007, 10:22:35 am
FWIW

Arcade warehouse sale (http://phoenix.craigslist.org/ele/298254780.html) posted on Phoenix Craigslist.

Not an auction so I'm unsure how low the prices will be.  Still, it might be interesting just to take a look around.

Whoa, he's got a Galaga 3 there...don't see those very often.  I have a feeling he's gonna have some high prices.  Jamma games start at 299.99?  In other words, the cheapest thing there will be $300.00, and probably the absolute worst one.   I've seen crappy Jamma games for under $100.00.  I can only imagine what he want to sell the classics for.  I'd go if I were in the area though, just to check it out.

Hmmm...  It appears there's a little "friendly competition" (http://phoenix.craigslist.org/ele/298374590.html) going on.

Free game for everyone who stops by????  This can't be a full arcade game, can it??

Sure, if he's trying to give away crap that he would otherwise pay to dispose of... he doesn't say complete arcade game.

It could be a scrap sheet of paper with a tic-tac-toe board scribbled on it you know...

Ah, yes!  True old school gaming!

I am almost positive he means you can play a game for free, not have one.

That's bad grammar, then, and if it were a print ad he could end up with trouble from someone looking to get a free cab.  I've seen badly phrased mom+pop coupons do some real damage to the business like that.

I agree, but that has got to be what he meant. He apparently doesn't have any "junk" to give away, as he is selling empties for $25.

Ah, now that you say that, it makes more sense.  A free play of a game for each visit.  But I sure thought he meant he'd giveaway a free game at first read.  Def. misleading.  That's why I was wondering....if he was selling empty cabs for $25.00, why not just go visit, don't buy anything, and get a free cab that way.

I'm glad I don't own a truck, or I might get myself into a lot of trouble with some unplanned purchases.

Still, I may have to call just to see what Pins he has.

Thanks for the heads up somunny.

I won't be making it but if you do, please post your findings!  ;D

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it either (specifically I was interested in Arcade Bob's post). I'm in Glendale, and Gilbert would have been a bit of a drive for me, on a day when I already had a to-do list. I cross referenced some of the info on CL, and found a recent listing of his pins on Mr. Pinball from Feb., and he had a few that I'm interested in. I'm going to try and give him a call in the next few days. Should I actually pay a visit, I'll definitely let you know what I find.

UPDATE - He who hesitates is lost.  :badmood:

One of the pins listed in an older CL post of Arcade Bob was Tales of the Arabian Nights. This is one of 3 pins that my wife and I have put on our short list of pins we want to own, and thanks to selling our house back in NM last month, we have the means to actually buy one now  ;D. Unfortunately, when I called about it, I discovered that it sold last Sunday :'(, so it's back to checking CL, BMI, and a couple of other sites to see when another pops up. Like I said, should I make it down to either of the Phoenix "Warehouse" posters on CL, I'll be sure to take a long look at everything they have and report back. Should anyone else pay a visit, I'd love to hear their take.

If you see a strider machine can you let me know?  I've been casually looking for one in the Utah area, and while that's a bit of a drive, if it was the right price and in good condition I'd consider making it.  =)
