Title: World Of Warcraft Themed Arcade
Post by: Thourne on March 22, 2007, 01:59:02 am
I started this project on January 2nd of this year and its around 85% complete. I stopped about 1 month ago (when it became playable!). I spent around $1000 on parts. I will post more pictures if you guys wish to see more detail and information about it. Here are some of the pics:

Looks nice.  You might want to get a larger monitor that looks like a postage stamp with all that bezel space around it.

It was originally designed to fit a 27" Monitor. Though when my money ran short I had to opt for the smaller 19" one. I have thought about thinning down the cabinet, though the speaker panel would have to be completely redone and the control panel will look like a 747 airplane on a thinner cabinet as it measures 38" wide.

Just save up the money for the 27" model.  I'll be in a simular situation as you are.  My CP is 36" wide.  How wide is your cab?

From inside of the outer edges it measures 32". I used 3/4" sanded plywood so roughly 33 1/2" wide

I was asked recently, especially with such bad feedback about Wells Gardner interal parts, how the monitor is doing. It still plays great and I love the monitor. Maybe I got a good one but I have no complaints as of yet and play the arcade daily with my wife and kids.

Looks good so far. How about some closeups of the control panel?

Do you play world of warcraft? It's been my experience that a world of warcraft player wouldn't have time to build a cabinet, since all their available free time is spent playing WOW.  ;)

I, too, like your design, but that kick-plate seems out of place for this cab's theme.  Now, replace it with some sort of fake (or real) chainmail surface, and you've got something maybe :)
