A guy an hour or so away from me has one for sale. Wondering what you all think.

Is this OK to Mame or since it's dedicated it should be left alone?
I think it looks kind of cool, a bit unconventional but it has a nice big CP and monitor.
The cab works, and is described as good condition. What is it worth? He's asking around $350 but that's way out of my budget.
Lastly is the Die Hard game any good?

Mame it. But be warned, the cab is all molded plastic and can be a real :censored: to do any kind of customizations at all. If it has a working monitor then all you need to do is add a jpac and PC. if your planning on changing the monitor then your going to have a hell of a time trying to get it mounted.
and the control panel does not have a whole lot of depth, so any additional controls are going to have to be very well thought out. Along with the fact that the coin slots are right there on top of the control panel, so you either need to lose them or have even less space for adding buttons or a trackball.
Not trying to talk you out of it, I actually love the look of the cab.Its a nice change of pace from the wood cabs and has a nice modern feel to it.
And I Happen to have 2 of them out in the garage at the moment. one complete and working. the other was gutted and I'm in the process of trying to mount a screen into it.
And the game is decent to play. Cartridges for the ST-V board it uses can usually be found for around $20 if you want to keep it intact but don't like the game in it.

I agree with Smoker. I too have a working Diehard and it's an awesome design!
I think it would be well worth say $250-$300 for a nice working Diehard. They are not too common.
The game is a favorite in our basement arcade. Even though we have the MAME game the kids love Diehard and whined at me when I wanted to sell it last year.

also just to warn you
Are your floors wooden? or you are gonna leave it inside the garage?
cause you will KILL your floor with the metal plate thing....
be careful while moving it.
This is the only bugger that kept me from getting one:(

A very good point ... I have one that I am converting to a JAMMA gun cabinet and even with my wide stairs and easy access to the basement, it was really awkward to move.
If I had it to do over, I would have yanked the monitor and removed the plate to move it.
Having said that, a local guy MAMEd one and it turned out really nicely.
Cheers.

Perfect cab for Mame..... Not really a classic, so well worth the effort. The kind of crossover design betwen a candy cab and an upright is very nice. The selling price is a very fair one. so unless you can haggle him down on it, you might not get it.
Best Regards,

I would keep it and try to get Radiant Silvergun...but that could just be the shumpfan in me screaming STV STV.
