Title: Control Panel Height
Post by: Sshado on April 10, 2003, 02:25:09 pm
How high is your control panel?  Mine is planned to be 42" from the ground, it feels comfortable for me, but I am worried it might be too high.

Thanks for the input,

Sshado

40" here (maybe 1/2" more with the casters on).
I just stood with my elbows at a 90 degree angle and dropped a tape measure to the floor.
Varies depending on how tall you are I suppose.. whatever is most comfortable for you.  How high are kitchen counters I wonder?

My control panel is tilted at an angle (higher in back and slopes down to the front).  From the front lip of the control panel to the floor (including the height of the casters) is 40" and I like it perfectly.   But, I would assume it mostly depends on the height of the person who is going to use the cabinet mostly.  I am 6'1" and 40" is fine when standing at the cabinet.  If everyone sits on the same bar stools to play games then height is not a problem if the bar stool height is taken into consideration when building the cabinet.

I have a Playchoice 10 (converted Punchout!) that is about 40", a Pacman, Sega/Gremlin (Space Fury/CongoBongo/Zaxxon cab) and a Defender that are about 36 to 39" on the front edge of the CP.

Well, thanks for the replies, I think I will lower it about 2 inches.
40" should be enough and will give me a little more room for the monitor.  I am only 5'7" anyway :)
