Title: Mala and Zsnes Issues
Post by: berdat on March 20, 2007, 09:37:22 pm
Hi guys im fairly new to Mala, I have it set up running MAME, ATARI2600, and SEGA Emulators perfectly thanks to UncleT’s instructions.

BUT i seem to be having trouble running my Nintendo roms, I am running Zsnes and have everything in their correct folders, but when choosing the Nintendo ROM. Zsnes seems to open up in its own little window (not full screen). Then if I try to get out of zsnes I press the Esc key, but it only exits out of the ROM, leaving the pink and purple main screen for Zsnes, ? ? Is this correct, im not sure what I have done wrong
Please please please HELP !  :)

Well as far as making ZSNES run in fullscreen, make sure that you choose a resolution in the program that has an "F" next to it in the choices...

In reference to exiting the app, I actually posted about this in the ZSNES forums, and here's the thread where I asked it:

http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8441 (http://board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8441)

Although I found my solution before it, this post seems to best explain it:

If you want to map a specific toggle to the ESC key, all you have to do is edit zsnesw.cfg, look for the appropriate toggle and change the value to 1.

For instance, let's just say you want to edit the quick key to exit immediately to use ESC.

In other words:
Code: [Select]
KeyQuickExit=1
So now, when you are running ZSNES while in game, hitting ESC quits ZSNES. You can do that for other keys as well.

one thing... make sure that you also disable any existing shortcut function in the CFG file that coincide with the key you want to remap...

for example "2" - if that is the key you want to map - may be used to load or save the state of a game ... in the CFG file you delete the value for the function where 2 is used

I just went through all of this today :) .. it now works like a charm
