IMHO, No. It's terrible.

There also happens to be a writeup on how to set up an excellent program at the top of this forum ;)

Whats wrong with it?
I've ripped several of my albums with it at 192 and it pulls down the artwork.
Is there some quality compromise or is it real slow compared to other software? It sounds ok to me.

I have never had luck gapless playing anything ripped by WMP, also it seems to ass up the pregaps of tracks, whereas EAC will detect them properly.
Then again, when the software cant even play gapless properly, what hope does it have of ripping, authough that may have changed recently. I know that iTunes always used to get crap about not doing gapless and they finally sorted it out (so I have heard from a friend, I dont use it) - perhaps WMP have pulled finger too?

Barcrest,
Thanks... I hope I wasn't coming across as ignorant.... I have read all the posts on ripping. ( Including the "writeup on how to set up an excellent program") But as there was no mention of "Windows Media Player" I was wondering if there was something wrong with it.

As leapinlew mentioned, I too have been using it for a couple of years with no problems.
I love that it rips to exactly the directory I want it in, adds the CD cover etc.
I just thought I'd ask... in case I was missing out on something.
I've not had any problems with gaps that I'm a where of.
I'm running SK on Win XP on a EVO P3 in a dedicated Cab (10 button CP)

Hmm, I've always used AudioGrabber and another program to pull down the art work to a file called cover.jpg
I wonder how or if the audio would sound any different at 192kbs. I guess its test time. ;) If it sounds the same and pulls down the art work heck might be the new way to do it.

Hi All :),
My own experiences with MP10 have been pretty good. I had a heap of stuff saved as .wma and when put back through mp3 came up better.
Please understand that my disc's are in pretty poor shape, but there were less 'breaks' than when saved under .wma (a pretty good indication that my discs are knackered... :-\). I also saved them at the highest rate possible (disk space...?). I have had no problems with the artwork.
My plan is to build a dedicated jukebox for my shed. I am currently looking at the EAC software but feel I may be behind the times (I am unable to locate the LAME software...happy to post progress reports if people are willing to wait...).
Please understand that I am no expert in audio or electronics (although it has always been a hobby of mine).
Regards,
Monster

Currently trying a program called 'Express Rip' and can be found here:

Gives you plenty of options :)

mmm... I guess it must be ok... so i'll soldier on.

Bitrate is bitrate. One might have a different algorithm for ripping faster but I wouldn't worry about it
