Howdy lads,
I searched the forum, but cant find anything here with regards to this. I searched google and cant find anything conclusive either. IF this has been posted elsewhere, feel free to gimme a good slap in the right direction.
I currently run an older version of Mame with Advancemame for my cabinet. It works fine, but I wanted to upgrade to Mame v.113 (or the now out v.113u1)
So I thought in all my wisdom to go looking for the updated Advancemame so I can still run everything on my trusty 15Khz arcade monitor. But I cant find a version for .113. Have they stopped updating it? Is there anything else to replace it? Or am I going to have to shell out money I dont have on an ArcadeVGA or something?
Thanks for your help :)

.106 was the last version of Advance to hit the streets:

Quote from the author of AdvanceMame:
"05-01-2007 Hi guys! Yes, I'm still alive.
At present I've switched out from the PC and emulation hobby, so sorry, no more update of AdvanceMAME in the near future."
106 Is the highest version.

Thanks for your answers. Gonna have to look for another solution then for the .113 roms that I have just been getting my hands on.
Any other products like advancemame that handle the 15Khz monitors?

At the risk of sounding like a greenhorn, what is the difference between advancemame and mame? Is it more compatible with arcade monitors?

Yes, and more. It was written to drive arcade monitors directly, creating 100% exact & authentic video modes for all mame games, by controlling the video hardware directly.
The main catch was (apart from being fiddly to setup) was that 'directly controlling video hardware' is a no-no in windows, so its most successful in Dos And Linux. Windows versions do (apparantly) work, but on an extremely limited range of hardware.

There is no mame version quite like Advancemame, but if you wish to drive 15Khz monitors there are a couple of options. More if you are not using windows.
1) Buy an ArcadeVGA card. Designed to drive 15Khz monitors. Lots of resolutions set up specifically for mame.
2) You may be able to drive a 15Khz monitor from windows using a utility called Powerstrip. Check the monitor/video forum.

I just tried to run advmame (as well as the dos version of advmenu, which is in the advmame folder) from command and it said 'windows nt/2000/xp not supported'. I was all, what?

That's because it's designed to run under DOS not "Windoze" and especially not under the those over bloated, clogged up, slow versions of "Windoze"
In any case if you do run it configured, with your PC Monitor still connected to the machine, you'll quite possibly fry the electronics in your monitor. It's designed to drive 15Khz arcade monitors. They're not the same as a PC monitor.

On the AdvanceMame Download page, there is a DOS binary and a Windows Binary. Sounds like you downloaded the Dos binary and tried to run it from Windows. Running it from a command line within windows does not count as Dos.

Fozz: I was using my arcade monitor.
Silver: I was getting that idea. Um, and what good is DOS, then?
