Hi, after reading several tutorials about monitors and mame, it seems like a scart tv is an easy way to have an authentic image for games. If I were to just buy a scart tv from europe and ship it here to the U.S., how hard would it be to adapt it for mame use? What kind of converter would I need, and would the image be authentic? I would of course also need a power converter for U.S. electricity probably.

You would need an ArcadeVGA card (SCART TVs Run at 15Khz in RGB Mode) and a VGA to Scart RGB cable. Makes sure the SCART TV has RGB capability.
You should also check the voltage of the TV. ZMany TVs in Europe were made for 220V, 50 Cycle Electric Current. The USA uses 120V, 60 Cycle Current!
