I'm setting up Kymaera for a cab that I might do in the near future, but I'm having trouble getting MNG files to work. I want to use some lil gameplay videos instead of just a still screen, so to make things easy, i just pointed the SNAP thing for MAME to a folder where I was keeping a mng for testing purposes. I changed its name to match the rom and such, but I still couldn't get it to recognize it. I tried the same thing with an avi file soon after, and it worked without any major roadblocks. I want to make lil videos of gameplay, and avis are hard to record (Using fraps... I will try other stuff if it wont eat up my computer) and the avi files that i have found are all recording the attract mode stuff.
Does anybody have them working? ???

I'm pretty sure Kymaera doesn't support mng files.
There are ways to convert mng to avi.

ooooooooooooooohhh...
I just re-read the readme file...
It supports MPG... not MNG... :-[
Well then... while we are still on the subject... How do you convert the MNGs?

I wrote a little program to assist with this ages ago:
http://www.silverfoxy.f2s.com/MNG2AVI.html (http://www.silverfoxy.f2s.com/MNG2AVI.html)
You are welcome to try. It was written specifically for the old Crashtest MNG set, and relys on advancemame utils to decompress the MNG's so it is not universally compatible with all MNG's. It creates AVI's using the Xvid codec.

I wrote one as well (http://cpmaker.mameprojects.com/files/MNG2AVI.ZIP), (with Silver's assistance) to convert MAME MNG files to AVI.

Ah yes I forgot about that.
Use Buddadbings, I recall it working much better on mine, and working on MNG's that mine didn't....
