Title: What makes a PS2 game freeze?
Post by: rackoon on March 10, 2007, 05:24:33 pm
Ok, I have a newer PS2 (one of those slim ones) Its about 1.5 years old and gets a lot of play.
It seems to freeze on two games. Half way through GTA3 and half way through Resident Evil 4. I bought both games new and they have very little scratches if at all on them. You have to look at the light just right to see that they are not perfect.

So is it my system or my disks that make them freeze. Heck I would buy new disks if I though I could finish my games.

I have some disks that are scuffed up and they work great. Whats the deal?

first see if the fan is working correctly and getting air from the console becuase if it is clogged or not spinning right it could be overheating.

next I would try to clean the laser.

if still no go try adjusting the laser height and pitch.

and last if still no go tweak the laser pot.

even one spec of dust or a peice of hair in the right spot on the laser can cause dirty disk error's or game freeze.
