I feel like such a newb, but I'm stuck and need some help figuring out why I can't get my trackball or mouse to work in .112u4.
I was running .98 in my cab and everything was fine. Since I upgraded I'm having issues. I know I must be missing somthing - something that I evidenly once knew about because I never had this problem with any of the previous updates. Guess I've been away too long....
Here's a snip from my ini.
# INPUT DEVICE OPTIONS
#
# ctrlr <NULL> (not set)
mouse 1
joystick 0
lightgun 0
dual_lightgun 0
offscreen_reload 0
steadykey 0
joy_deadzone 0.3
joy_saturation 0.85
digital none
#
# AUTOMATIC DEVICE SELECTION OPTIONS
#
paddle_device mouse
adstick_device mouse
pedal_device keyboard
dial_device mouse
trackball_device mouse
lightgun_device mouse
positional_device keyboard
What am I missing! I know it's right in front of me but I just can't seem to get it working.
both the lightgun (actlabs) and the trackball work fine in windows so I know the hardware is OK.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Go into a game and press tab and select 'input (general)'. Map the analog stuff like TrackX and TrackY by moving the mouse.
And use this to map the lightguns:

Good luck with those Act Labs guns......I had two of them in my house for a week and got them to work with one game (Crossbow)....They arrived on a monday, were sent back to Act Labs the next monday....they suck and feel like cheap little cap guns.

I've been using one in my cab for a couple years with no problems at all.
All the mame games play great, but this was with .98 and earlier. I've got the older "space ray-gun" style and I've heard they don't feel quite as cheap as the newer models.
I'm hoping I just neglected someting stupid like the input (general) config. I guess I'll find out when I get home.

Mice (and lightguns) are now individual devices. Mame is setup by default to use the axis of mouse 1, so if you have more than one mouse hooked up (and you do as your lightgun is a mouse) then you have to set it to mouse 2.
