Title: Fastmame and Mala help!! No games launching
Post by: hawaiianluau on March 06, 2007, 10:23:33 pm
I just installed fastmame and Mala frontend to see if it would help with the games running slowly ( like NBA JAM, Mortal Kombat, etc) I set it up and when I try and launch a game from the Mala main screen it says starting and then runs something very fast and returns back to the mala game screen.  No games will launch! Any ideas or solutions? I'm running mame .61
computer is an IBM pentium 3 750 mghz,
I can get the games to run fine if I use mame32 to open the game

Mame is compling about something

You need to launch a from a command promt to see the error..(whatever FE you use)

PS I would not use Mame32 I recomend command line mame with a FE

It says not found when I try and start a game.  That's when I set Fastmame as the mame excecutable file  inside Mala, if I switch it to mame32 it will work.  Before I was just using mame 32 and no Front End. I just want some of the games to run faster! someone recommended fastmame. ANy other suggestions to solve slow game problems

Fastmame is a heavily optimized version of mame. Not mame32.
I think mala only supports mame version starting at .84 Try using Fastmame 85 or switch front end.
