Title: choosing mame version, what criteria is most important?
Post by: govee on March 06, 2007, 12:31:36 pm
I have everything running on an celeron D 340 (2.93)with a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 4000 with a 27" TV and TinyXP. I use Mamewah as the FE. I was using Mame 61 but that was due the PIII I was running. I am trying to get a hold on where I need to break to get the best solution. I love the classics but dabble in the newer so I don't want to exclude them. On the other and I am willing to give up some of the newer games (CHDS) to get the best emu for the older games. What version does this. I wont be running preview videos but if it is part of the better version..... So I need help! I have been reading for a couple of days and what is really apparent is experience is probably where the best answer will come from.

With a frontend which can handle more then one mame version...

you want the latest mame build...

then you want others that will be used on a pergame bases...

v59 or v57 (somewhere around there) was a big slowdown

and v36 was another...

But you should use the latest for all games that you can... then try older ones when needed.

Just use AtomicFE from there you can have one list with all your games. You choose which games lauch with different mame version. You should try posting software questions in the software forum you'll get more help there.
