Title: Gamepad woes, recomendations for another model?
Post by: AlexKidd on March 02, 2007, 12:52:06 pm
I have two logitech wingman actionpad gamepads. I really like the layout and design quality of them but they have this annoying problem of stealing joy1 and joy2 in mame whenever I have them plugged in. They even force my poor ultrastick360s out of the way to do it.  :'( I messed around with changing the controller IDs in the windows gaming options but that doesn't seem to affect how mame picks them. Anyone have a suggestion of a way to solve this problem?

Also, if you have a gamepad that doesn't behave in this >:D gready  >:D way could you post the make and model and maybe say how you like the gamepad?

I have the Saitek P2600
It's a great joypad with a lot of options for button programming.... not sure if it has this problem in mame tho, I always use it for Nebula (NeoGeo) and console emulators.

I use the playstation to usb adapters from raido shack.
So far, I haven't had any problems with any emulator being confused
about which controller is used for player 1, player 2, and so on.
It seems that the emulator desides which controller is used for which player
based on which usb ports the controllers are plugged into.

I've got a pair permantly attached to my main pc, and a pair that I used
on the first control panel with a pair of hacked psx pads in my mame cab.

I was looking at the saiteks the other day, I like the button layout. The 4 button playstation layout doesn't work as good for N64 emulation.
