I started off by wanting to get a single game working. Mortal Kombat! The only arcade game I wanted. It had come to my attention, that many, in fact, have arrived and invited them selves into my house. Arcade games that is. I can't believe it, can you? Just who do they think they are, huh? I have limited space in my room, LIMITED space. And now, wouldn't you know it, they moved in! In the place were I sleep, none the less. There are now three of them here. Gosh... the madness.
Haha, honestly, I didn't know it would be this addicting. I only wanted that one game and as soon as I started meeting people and finding things, it seams I'm collecting more and more. I currently only have 1 1/2 working games. Plus I have one on lay-a-way. Dessert Assault, Track & Field and Rygar. Cool ay?

Heh heh, sucked you right in.

I'm house shopping with my wife right now and she gave me the OK to pick a house with a dedicated gameroom. You better believe I'm going to take her up on that and I'm going to fill it up with cabs.
-
If only I had discovered this hobby as we were looking at houses...{sigh}...
...and the wife REFUSES to let me convert the "one day" baby room to an arcade. Alas, I am relegated to the COLD ASS garage. This spring I am getting the damn thing insulated though, so it should help. Carpet would be a big help as well...
BLASTED ARCADE CABINETS! :timebomb:

Just fully convert it into a heated area. If it's not practical to connect to the house system, insulate it and install a proper propane system.

I have a go-ahead to turn the garage into a gameroom. Just have to get an outbuilding first for all my tools and storage. Then it's all mine! My precious! >:D

Same here...started with just 1 mame box, then came the jukebox, then a pole position...then a skins game...
Going house hunting later this year, you can bet I'll make sure I have a walk in basement :)

We just bought a new house that should be ready in about 3 weeks. One thing I looked for was a dedicated game room, but it's still not big enough for everything I want. It's 19' by 17', but I've always wanted a pool table as well. There's enough room for a pool table, two cabs, one pin, a jukebox, and a dartboard. I know I'll want a driving cab eventually, I probably won't be able to afford it until we buy a new house anyway though considering I only have 1 cab out of all the items I just listed.

No matter how big of an area you have, You're ALWAYS going to want more. It's never enough.
If you don't have kids now wait till you do. Kids + Game room = Nursery :hissy:

I've always wanted an air hockey table, but I keep thinking about how many more arcade cabs I could fit in the same space:-)

Eh. I have two kids and an 1100sqft house... still we have enough room for 4 cabs and 5 pins. Basements, baby!

I think it's a real problem just about everywhere around here. ;)
Last year I finally got my new house with the game room big enough for a pool table, and I'm already working on filling it up. Bought a pool table and pinball machine last fall, and the arcade cab is going in as soon as things warm up a bit. (and I can stop shoveling out of the snow)
Oh, and the kids (2 and 4) love it too,... I think it will only get better as they get old enough to be able to play.

Get ready to fight the kids to play your own machines...
9yo, 13yo and a 15yo, ugg..
-
That's why you build a Mame cab. Only you can touch the real ones. ;D

That is why I plan on installing a coin door on mine. I'll install a switch too for the coin buttons. This way I can limit the playing time the kids get with an allowance of tokens with bonuses for good behavior, grades, etc. And if they want to play more they can always use quarters with that money going to upgrades or another project. ;)

I'm with ya. I want to put a "free coin" switch on my MAME cab for the same reasons. I've got the coin doors functioning--but why use them when the coin up buttons never run out ;)

I tried to make my nephew believe that every time he pushes the coin button, I have to pay for it on my credit card because he would sit there and mash that thing till it hit 99 or max, then get bored and barely play.

...and you've yet to get Mortal Kombat?
I know the feeling though. I started with my upright MAME cab, decided to add a JAMMA cabinet to play real boards, and now I'm building a cocktail and searching for a Neo-Geo cab.
