I'm helping a buddy set up his MAME computer. in the process of setting up MameWAH, it does not want to work. I've set up 8 or 10 instances of MameWAH and never run into the issues I'm getting here. Immediately upon startup, MameWAH gives me an error and shuts itself down. The log looks like this:
3/1/2007 8:51:52 PM MAMEWAH launched

Not sure...i'd recommend visiting the Mamewah support board over at MAMEWORLD.INFO. Make sure to tell Twisty "FrizzleFried" sent ya!
EDIT: Actually...on second thought...you better avoid the whole FrizzleFried topic with him.

Try changing the desktop properties to 32 bit. I don't think Mamewah likes 16 bit color.

It originally was on 32 bit and I was getting that error. I changed it to 16 and still got the error (I was fiddling around with settings to see if I could get around the error).

This may sound a little obvious, but have you installed the essential MAMEWAH system files? That said, make sure you have directx, all video drivers (preferably nvidia if applicable) and all mainboard drivers correctly.
f this is not being installed on a 'fresh' install of windows (ie new and untouched), run lots of spyware programs and maybe something like windows washer or some kind of registry cleaner to correct damaged files.
Also, a de-frag can't do any harm either.
Failing that, from your log it seems that your graphics card and/or monitor is struggling with the display. I found a similar problem with my PC and it turned out my graphics card was on it's way out, and fried every time I tried to switch resolutions or went to high-colour applications like videos etc.

If your using onboard video and have made sure you install the system files correctly from the mamewah site, along with mamewah itself, and its still not working....get a video card instead of using onboard, I had this problem a long time ago and the onboard video just sucks most of the time for mame, or any gaming for that matter.

It fails at the point where it should be reading your games list. Maybe you should look there?
Next suspect on my list would be layouts - does the PC support the reolutions you want? Remember that 800x600x32 bit colour is a different mode to 800x600x16 bit colours! You need to get this selected right in your mamewah layout designer.

Something is wrong with this line. 60 Hz but nevver 1 Hz. Check your display settings.
