Title: Tempest spinner and optiwiz
Post by: johnm160 on March 01, 2007, 09:40:36 am
I got the original Tempest spinner working with the GGG Optiwiz but am having a little trouble with mame.

The spinner will control the cursor in windows but when I start mame only the mouse will control the game. Apparently the Optiwiz is being picked up as a second mouse and mame wants to use the first.

Is their a way to get mame to use the second mouse or should I just disconnect the system mouse?

Thanks

John

Go in to MAME's setup menu (TAB or TILDE or something stock...can't remember).  Change the DIAL controller from mouse 1 to mouse 2.  Just go in,  click on the DIAL controller line and then move the spinner.   MAME should change the device name to MOUSE X (whatever mouse # your spinner is assigned to).

That is assuming you have modified the MAME INI file to allow for mouse controls.

Frizzle,

That turned out easier then expected. I thought the setting would be in the ini file. By the time I got around to checking out the menu in the game I did not have the panel hooked up any more so all I could select was mouse x or y not thinking that the optiwiz had to be connected for me to set it.... :banghead:

Thanks for your help,

John
