I am looking for the latches that hold down your control panel if it is on henges in the front. Any ideas or websites?

Dude...GOOGLE is your friend. A simple search of "CONTROL PANEL LATCHES" turned up:
MikesArcade.com - Products > Game Parts > Control Panels
Control Panel Latch, Control Panel Latch SKU: CPLATCH Replacement CP latches for most early Midway and Nintendo games, Price: $3.25 ...
www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?action=search&category=Game+Parts&subcategory=Control+Panels - 18k - Cached - Similar pages
Right at the top.
That url takes you to a page that sells...Control Panel Latches...among other things.
::)

I don't think any arcade vendor DOESN't have these in their stock. Ultimarc, groovygamegears, happscontrols, hell even the guys selling stuff on the buy and sell forum sell CP latches.
-
Frizzle and efjayel - why you guys hate'n? :(
Dude just wants to know where to get some latches and he also asked for alternative ideas on how to secure down a control panel. Maybe he just wants to know the best place to get them, and efjayel - you've been here long enough to know that buying something like this from happscontrols isn't a smart thing to do. You should be beaten with a stick for suggesting that.
Boodroe - if you want to secure a control panel down, many people do use the control panel latches. You just need to be sure you can access the latches to secure them down (most people use their hands through the coin door).

twistedquarter has 'em on eBay, I grabbed some last year, very fast shipping!

Didn't say to buy them from Happs, just pointing out how Happs among others, carry them.

Bah...silly questions deserve silly answers. I know from experience...I have asked MANY silly questions in my time and deserved the smartass answers I received.
Couple that with the fact I was having somewhat of a nic-fit last night and you get what you get.
he also asked for alternative ideas on how to secure down a control panel.
Lew, I didn't take away that question from what he asked...lets see...

Hmmm... I read that as "Where can I get the latches that hold down your CP? Any idea WHERE? Website?" I suppose I could stretch my imagination far enough to come up with him askin' for "Alternative ideas"...but then again, I can imagine Captain Kirk in a Tu Tu ... eww...
Here...let me make it better...
BOODROE: There are many locations throughout the web that sell these devices. Some of them include: www.mikesarcade.com - www.tornadoterrys.com - www.arcadeshop.com - www.happcontrols.com (which actually isn't priced THAT bad (for this device) in comparison to the rest...but IS a little more expensive) and many others.
From the quick glances I made it appears your best bet is going to be www.MikesArcade.com, though I have not compared shipping prices.
I sincerely apologize for my snippy little retort. I'm a rat bastard to say the least.
Have a wonderful day.
PS: I am getting sick...wifes got me on friggin' cold meds (I HATE EM!), and I want to SMOKE damnit! Grrr... I need to install a punching bag in the garage.

Hello, i stock the happ latches if you need them

I got mine from groovygamegear a while back.
As a related question:
Whats the easiest way to install these suckers? I am having a hard time getting everything lined up so that the springs stay tight. Any tricks of the trade?
-
if they are like the ones in the ebay auction...they have that long slotted hole...put a screw in each one of those...then play around with it by sliding it up and down until the spring tension is to your liking...then secure it there with four more screws in the corner holes...!

To get the rest of us up to speed who haven't been here that long. Why? Is Happs more expensive than they should be? Or is there some other reason?

Happ is designed to sell to the reseller more than the individual, the shipping is just terrible when purchasing happ prodcucts you will always do bettter purchasing from a reseller like ponyboy, myself(divemaster127)

hehe.. the reason I ask is that I am trying to install in an existing cabinet.. where I only have access from the top... I cannot access the area beneath the control panel once the control panel is on. someone suggested that I use a small piece of mdf (versus the real control panel) so that I can still see underneath. I will try that.
