Title: help: I adjusted Dips in Galaga and now screen permanently flipped
Post by: QuixoteQuest on March 01, 2007, 01:12:49 am
I've run into something I've not encountered before in MAME. I went into Dipswitches to add lives to Galaga. I reset the game and after it ran the reboot of the roms the screen is now flipped upside down. It says "rom ok" on the screen but if I insert coins the game doesn't play anymore. It's not like it will even run upside-down. When I set the lives back to 3 and reset it stayed the same. Changing the rotate options in Video Options doen't help either.

Is this a common problem with this game or is there something I've accidentally switched on? Do I just need to track down a config or setup file and trash and restart the game?

Yeah

I would just delete the config file for galaga and start again

I deleted the cfg files for all the Galagas and it didn't make a difference at all for my Namco license version of Galaga. I switched to one of the two Midway license versions and they are working fine. Because the behaviour was so wierd to have the Namco rom do that when I changed the Dips I wish I could troubleshoot it. But if I don't ever find a solution I still can enjoy the game via the other romsets. Oh well.

Did you delete the nvram files?  AFAIK the cfg files are for controller settings.

Just flip your screen upside down...
