Just seeing what everyone is using these days.
Cheers.
-
2000 Pro.
-
This install of XP is only a day old.. I've bounced between XP & 98 when adding new parts jsut to see what runs best
-
it seems you forgot some major systems abble to run mame.
eg: I'm currently running mame on linux and MacOS
my, still planning, CAB will run linux.

I guess other isn't good enough for you?

Of course it is, I've voted with the other category.
Not that I want to launch an OS flamewar, but either you call the pool "OS Poll" and I whish it to be a little more exhaustive, either you call it "Win flavour pool" :D

Then it would have had to include BeOS, DigitaOS, Windows CE, etc.. that mame has run on :)

yes, hopefully the list of OS running mame is very large :D

WinME here. I'm still in the win9x family for the multiple tracballs & multiple lightguns in mame:analog+. ;D When I built this computer, winME was cheaper than win98, so I got ME instead of 98.
Not planning to buy winXP until I get a new computer (hopefully within a year). Until then, I can't run the winXP-only method of getting multiple mice. I'd need the headers and libraries to compile it, anyways. For now it's just RTFM, err.. RTFWP. After I get XP, then I'll test and see if the winXP rawmouse multiple mice is as good (programmer friendly) as win9x directInput multiple mice, and decide if I also upgrade this old computer or not.

I'm sorry. Do you need life support? You are connected to the internet with ME? Are you crazy?
-
It will destroy th universe as we know it!!!!!
-
sorry, but i hate being releagated to other, we have 4 windowns choices and then other? it should be "what wintel OS are you using?"
i use mac, for the record, not other. i think that is hte mame team can put out the effort to make ports of mame for all these different systems, you can take the time to represent them in your poll.
just rattling your cage. us mac users are instigators you know 8)
-
Well, here's another vote for Win ME and I'm relegated to the other catergory as well.
*shrug*
-
'other' jeez.....
this poll needs more choices!
can't really see any need to run windows in a cab....
ever.
was running debian 2.4, more recently gentoo.... 8)
-
xp with Mamewah frontend here. Runs solid but doens't like some of the newwer games like MK3.
-
The big thing for me.
I run on a 80gig drive....
And my OS runs on another 40gig drive
the OS changes... but my other drive doesnt.
btw, Daphne works MUCH better on XP (noticably better on the same hardware)...
Analog+ mame works only with 98.
-
I like that you don't have any of those communist, French loving OSs like Linux or MacOS.... ;D Seriously, I was going to make my cab from an empty Pengo cabinet I have that still has the side art intact and run it on Linux.
-
thats a sweet idea 8)
-
yeah, i do that too.
smaller drives though...
a 9.1 and a 20 (which BARELY fits the mame and daphne stuff)
-

Well,
Daytona
Virtua Fighter
MS Pinball arcade
Pro-Pinball series
New Frogger
New Centipede
New Combat
Other remakes
Crazi Taxi
Golden Tee golf
NFL Blitz
Many many many other pc ports of arcade games.
And don't say you will just use wine! Most of those use directx.
-
My thoughts exactly!!! I've got a force feedback wheel and pedals. Not that Spy Hunter ain't fun, but I'd be shooting myself in the foot to exclude myself from Need For Speed and Colin McRae.
-
still running 2000 pro...i just can't get into the bubbly happy-go-gooble-yucky look of XP...GACK! coughing up a hairball. However...now that I figured out how to make XP look exactly like 2000 i may switch
-
just my opinion I guess.
my cab is for arcade games, I've got a nice pc to play pc games on (which runs winxp pro)
and as they were designed to run on a pc, the control layouts are optimized for that platform.
I see playing pc games on a cab as being just as much of a wet blanket as using mame on a PC.
It works, It's neat, It's not the same.
oh and dont the latest releases of wine support direct x calls?
I'm not running it myself but I seem to recall they had warcraft III running under wine quite well.
-
Currently MacOSX, though my cabinet will run on XP - toying with the idea of MAME on xbox.
