Title: my first cab: nsm löwenplay
Post by: nexus6 on February 28, 2007, 06:53:05 am
heres my first cab:
its a nsm löwenplay/duoplay in orange (!).

a guy from an german arcadeforum has give me the cab as gift :)
so i only payed for the transport.

after cleaning the cab i installed a mame-pc with arcadevga. because i wanted more buttons ive made a new controlpanel with a selfmade nsm-like "artwork".

ive also made a new image for the windowed marquee.

i was very glad to hear that my wife likes the cab too, because it fits perfect to our orange sofa :)

heres the panel and the uncleaned cab:

Usually these things CLASH with the furniture. You're lucky that you have a matching one. (And that your wife LIKES it.)  ;D

Nice work on the modifications and clean-up!

thanks! unfortunatelly the first button is a little bit to near to the front so that you've got not so much room for placing your hand on it. the next panel i'll make will have the 4th button as thumbbutton (see @ the attachment), so that the first three one have enough place at the small panel. i've seen something like this on an x-arcade-trackball and it worked well.

btw: i've got youre nice asteroids-wallpaper as background now :)

damn cool shape, AND colour! if i dint know any better id say your dutch, what with that penchant for orange.

anyway, the shape is giving me ideas. i can see the front is probably blow molded plastic or maybe fibreglass but a similar shape could be acheived in mdf. hmmmm...

actually, i should probably finish off one project before starting another.

nice to hear that you like it. i found out that the most people love it or hate it, bacause of the colour. i'm german but eventually ive got some dutch grandgrandgrandparents ;)

from outside it feels like plastic but on th einside its wood. so i think that its mdf.

I have to say, when I first saw this cab I thought to myself "That is the ugliest piece of **** I have ever seen"....but now, I like it. It has a very unique style. It gets so boring seeing that same Lusid design (no offense Lusid) over and over, rehashed 4,000 times.

Well it works because of the decor. Otherwise it kind of looks like one of those tacky multi display mini-toy dispensers.

Glad you like it though. I just don't like the limited control panel space. Planning on making it bigger?

Very cool - I like the unique design. Is it just me, or does it look like it dispenses soft drinks out the bottom?

 :D

The more rotating monitors I see the more I want one in my cab.  Could you please show how your setup works?  Your swappable CP system look sweet, please show that in more detail as well.

Thanks, TTFN

you only have to solve the four screws at the edges of the monitor, rotate it and put in the screws. a much cooler solution you can find in a quadro cab http://www.retrospieler.de/e-monitormount.html which has a motorized rotation.

the panel isnt really exchangable at the moment. i'm working at this …
