Title: T-Molding lengths
Post by: shmokes on April 07, 2003, 07:20:50 pm
How long generally are lengths of T-Molding?  The company I'm looking to purchase from apparently sells it in 12 foot lengths.  Is that average?  Are the seams pretty inconspicuous or should I make sure that they are all on top of the cabinet so people can't see them?

I buy from t-molding.com, and their length is twenty feeet.

You can also buy an entire reel of 250'

The seams will be visible.  I would suggest that if you are going to have seams then arrange the t-molding such that they are somewhere out of sight and reach.  That will also help protect an edge from getting snagged on something (clothing, perhaps) and getting pulled out.  That is a somewhat unlikely scenario, but anything is possible.   :)

I would definitely try for single pieces for each side. I used 2 x 20' pieces and had about 3-4 feet left(perfect for trimming upa control panel or something)

I made my seam in the center of the bottom edge on each side, and just used a thin nail on each side of the seam to keep it secure- that probably wasnt neccessary, but just in case :)

Thanks for the info.  I'm looking to order from www.tapeease.com as they are the only company I've seen so far who carries a brushed aluminum T-molding.  Twelve foot lengths appears to be my only option.  Perhaps it isn't malleable enough to roll up like most plastic ones.  I hope it works well; it's about $2 per foot.   $$$!
