I was talking to my sister the other day, and she played this video and at the very beginning they are walking through a "fun center" and there is about 10 seconds of arcade noise before the music kicks in. It sounded so familiar, like Arcade Ambience that I sometimes have playing in the background. I wonder if they did sample it, and if they didn't and it is real arcade noise, then Andy did an excellent job on the Arcade Ambience!
Check it out, the sounds are from 5 secs into it to about 15 secs in.

OK - Let's NOT (bother to) let this thread become pro/con or about Avril Lavigne, please!!!

No question about it.... that is very certainly from the "Arcade Ambience" track.... I bet they didn't ask permission to use it LOL :laugh2:
Well spotted... although what you were doing listening to that rubbish is beyond me. ;)

Hah, that's crazy. I wonder who on her little staff of interns found that.

HAHAHA!
I have my legal team working on it as we speak. I'm going to demand 5 hours with her in a seedy motel as restitution. :laugh2:

ahofle, I do have to say that while I downloaded your tracks a while ago, I did not actually hear them until they showed up on the random of my mp3 player on the way back from a Super Auction, need less to say my partner in crime had to have a copy of the set. Even though I am sure youve heard it many many times, fantastic job and thank you for bringing back all those memories.

The 'sample' is indeed taken directly from the 1983 track right around the 30 minute 5 second mark. I'll have to add this to the 'news' section of the site which hasn't been updated in a while. :P

Cool - I looked for it for a while. I listened to 81, and had started 83. I don't think that I would have caught it, though (as I am doing other things on the computer)...
I wouldn't be surprised if it was used elsewhere. Damn, now I'm going to be listening for it everywhere!

Ha! I live like only a mile away from that Golf and Stuff place. I've been there only once. I recall I was playing Marvel Vs Capcom and the place was closing, so I thought I'd get another game in so I put my 50 cents to start another game and the idiot running the place pulled the plug on all the arcade machines with a switch. Needless to say I lost my 50 cents. I was pissed.
I would have told the guy off but I didn't want to cause a scene.
It was mostly teens anyways.

I updated the site with a new news item: http://arcade.hofle.com/ ;D
I also included the snippet of 1983 track that she used.

Be aware that the link to youtube will probably go bad. I had a different link bookmarked but when I went to it today to post this, it said "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by RCA Records". I'm assuming that it won't be long until this one is removed, too. I just searched for it again (and found the one I linked to here), I'm assuming that someone just reposted it.
