Hi all, did a quick search but came back with about a gazillion results, none which I found really useful... Anyways, long story short. If I had a 2 player CP setup with 8 way sticks for both player one and player two, but also wanted to add a dedicated 4 way stick for pac-man, etc. Would this be wired in line with the player one 8 way stick? If so, I could have 2 seperate sticks (one 8 way and one 4 way) connected to the same terminals on the IPAC/Keywiz. Would both sticks be active at all times? Are there any drawbacks to this? Which brings me to my original question...
Is it possible to wire multiple buttons to the same IPAC/Keywiz input? Example, I am thinking of adding some buttons on the side of my CP to run VPIN, so could I just tap into the existing connections from other buttons to do this? I would have my position 1 button on player one side also wired to the left flipper button on the cabinet left side. Does this cause any issues with the way the interface handles powering the buttons?

I think I know what your saying. For example you wanna know if you can wire left on player one's eight way joystick and a four way joystick's left to the same spot on an I-pac. You shouldn't have a problem doing that. The only problem I see with it would be you (me :banghead:) messing up the wires and having to pull it all apart and redo it.

Yeah, you can do that. I'm going to have my 4-way wired to the same inputs as one of my 8-ways. Also, my 4-way buttons will share inputs with one of my 8-way buttons. My 4th "Neo Geo" button will share with one of my standard six as well.
I think most people do this, don't they? Otherwise you'd use up your inputs fairly quickly.

The problem would be that other people using the cabinet will not know what the 4 way is for and will decide to use the 8 way instead for all games. I was originally planning to get both an 8 way and a dedicated 4 way. But then I found out about the Ultra 360 sticks. They can do both and more.
But if you really want both sticks but want to turn one off for certain games then I would simply suggest getting an I-PAC4 as it has 54 inputs. Should be plenty.

You could wire 100 switches to the same input.
Just daisy chain the input lead the same as you do the ground side from one switch to the next.
The buttons aren't actually "powered", they are just a "make or break" contact switch.

As above the answer is YES.
drawback is both joys will work at the same time
to fix the problem:
If you were to wire the ground wires separately (i.e from all the 8 way ground inputs to the ipac separated from all the 4 wire grnd inputs and then put a switch (not a pushbutton but an on/off switch) in line with the 4 way ground daisy chain someplace unobtrusive on the cab you could isolate the 4 way to only work when the switch is on. If you get really creative you could switch between joysticks if you use a 2 position on off on switch.
anything is possible
