Title: MameWah movie previews not working !!!SOLVED!!!
Post by: AlexKidd on February 24, 2007, 07:11:34 pm
I can't get movie previews to work in mamewah 1.62b13a. I've gone through all the forum posts I could find but nothing has solved my problem.

I have a previous version of mamewah installed and movie previews work great in it.
I have ffdshow installed to decode xvid and divx.
I have a show movie preview button assigned and have movie previews set to show after 2 seconds.
If I set one of the preview movies to show as a mamewah startup vid it plays when mamewah starts.
I have the movie_preview_no set to 1.
I'm using the default layout that comes with 1.62b13a.
I have movie previews for mame and n64 but neither work.
I can play the movies in windows media player.
I dont hear any sounds in mamewah like if the movie was playing behind other artwork or something.

I wish mamewah wrote stuff to the log file about movie previews.
Anyone have any suggestions of other things to try?  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So I figured out that movie previews won't show if you only have an Artwork Image #1 display object in a theme.

In my exhaustive search to get movie previews working again I tried downloading someone else's theme and previews worked with that! So then I started messing around with the default theme to see what was different. I put an Artwork Image #2 box in the theme, saved it out and what do you know, movie previews would now play in the artwork #1 box. Take the #2 box back out of the theme, no more movie previews.

I hope that this problem is reproducible for other people and it's not just me who is crazy. I hope it gets fixed so others won't have to suffer through what I've been through. My brain hurts.

I had a similar problem in that I had an artwork #1 and #3, but no #2.  I added the #2 and bing!  Movies.

I wonder if there's something about the #2 specifically.
