Title: This is for you Frostillicus
Post by: NAH on April 07, 2003, 03:58:27 am
Alright.. This is my first attempt using illustrator. Frostillicus's tutorial was a great help. I thought he would like to know someone has actually used it a bit. It was a little hard for me to trace this picture because I found it already blown up and quite blurry. If i find the spiderman: venom comicbook this is from i may redo this. but i may not... it takes a newbie a lot of time... although i am getting faster  :)  anyways you can check out what a complete amature has done here http://comp.uark.edu/~brisch/tracer.JPG

Whoa ho!

Good start. I actually just downloaded it last night. It's encouraging to see someone else has risen up to the challenge.

That is simply awesome!  ;D  Excellent job - I especially like the gradient on his wrist.  It can be a tough guessing game sometimes when the original picture is blurry, but it gives you a chance to tweak it to just the way you like it.
Now that you have one hand, you can cut, paste, and mirror for the other one if they are similar poses, that's a little time saver I'm sure you've thought of.
Again, good job! And I'm glad the tutorial was helpful :)
EDIT: I was just thinking - would it be helpful to include the AMUKA.AI file with the tutorial?

OK then, I don't want to go too far OT in the thread:
Akuma AI file (http://tomvanhorn.com/miscstuff/AKUMA.zip) (261KB zipped)
I guess I should have put this in the original tutorial zip file - live and learn - maybe any admins or GM's can include this in the tutorial zip? I hate to bug saint with little things. thanks

sure... this is the original picture i found on deviantart.com

http://comp.uark.edu/~brisch/spidey_BOO.jpg

I'm just going to use the top half of the picture so it looks like spiderman is trapped under the control panel instead of on the hood of a car...
this is where i found the pic

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/336016

if anyone has that comic book and can get a better scan of the image i would be very  ;D

Thanks for the good stuff Frostillicus. ;D
I am gonna to try some of that myself now..(still working on the side art...shhhh..supposed to be a secret :D)

I thought that was the effect you were going for - the light pink fingertips looked like where he was pressing against the glass (or lexan  :) )
You probably won't find a better pic than the scan you have - one of the big limitations of comics (at least older comics) are the prominent dot-patterns of the printing.  You'd just get bigger and clearer dots.  Can't wait to see it finished- it's a cool idea
