Title: Coin Mech Probs

I just fired up my mame machine for a quick blast, but my coin mech has seemed to develop an annoying problem overnight.

I've got a sentinel c220 coin mech hooked up to a klingon credit board via the 12v line from my pc.  It was all working perfectly till just now.  Now when I turn it on, the credit board repeatedly registers credits as if there were a constant supply of coins being inserted  :dizzy: 
I just wanted to see if any of you guys who may have worked with these mechs and boards (especially any of you veteran technicians from the UK!) had come across anything similar or have any suggestions as to why this may be, before I open her up at the weekend...

I've unplugged the coin mech at the minute so I can still play without the constant click-click-clicking, but I like having it in place as I use it as a very over the top piggy bank  ;D

Those type of coin mechs are not normally supplied in normal arcade video game cabinets in the USA. Sometimes those will turn up in gambling machine cabinets like video slots or video poker here.

In general though you'll need to find someone in the UK with experience on those mechs.

Hi Ken, yeah I'm in the UK myself, the mech and board were in an old non-working Virtua Fighter machine I've now converted into mame.  I've done a bit of reading into how these types of mechs work, but nothing obvious points to why it's sudddenly started doing this...

A lot of times the mech manufacturers have programming operation & troubleshooting information in their tech support department.

Sounds like whatever part of the circuit is registering the credit is shorted somewhere.

the coin mech can cause that or the main i/c on the klingon
disconnect the coin mech plug to see if it still does it
if you need an i/c they readily available from suzo as are klingon credit boards,if you need the mech repaired try micro electronic services in farnborough

Cheers for the suggestions guys (grantspain, loving the Bottom avatar!).  I've not had a chance to have another look due to my Wii arriving in the post  :applaud: but once I can drag myself away I'll investigate further!

if it gives the same batch of credits all the time you may find one of the coin channels is stuck closed,you could bypass this by disconnecting that coin channel output line
