Looking for some feedback on this unit.

as this is "a build your own" site, I don't think you'll get much of a reply on this...
oh, and welcome! :D

I think i may smell spam

Viral marketing maybe?

I love how none of the links are real on that site. Good stuff.
-
Probably spam anyway, but that control panel looks like ass and probably works horribly too.
Why in the world would you have P1 and P2 Start on the same side? I would love to have the guy playing next to me reach over across me to hit start while playing any side scroller etc.

I love the design of their new Delux System. i love how much it resembles trashcade :)
-
and that trackball is freakin' huge

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like it might be the size of a softball.
-
Nothing better then playing capcom bowling with a modded trackball/bowling ball
-
WOW!
I didn't know people could build a cabinet to play literally THOUSANDS of games.
AMAZING.
/sarcasm

Feedback on that?
Ok: It looks likes ass.

No, this is not spam or viral marketing.
I saw one of the retrocade units at a game room store.
I was trying to find out about this system, and mitch at retroblast said to try posting here.
I want to have a mame unit but dont have the time, patience or knowledge of computers to do it myself.
I have tried messing around with some mame programs but really don't know what i am doing.
I figured buying a pre built unit would be the best way for me to go.

If you have already been to the retrocade site then choose an advertiser on that site that provides built cabs. You are asking about a product that no one here seems to be aware of. Try out DreamArcades or Arcadeinabox of one of the other reputable advertisers on the retrocade site if you want to buy a real product.

I agree with the reactions to the standard "play eleventy brazillion" games, as well as BobA's advice to look to vendors who are active in the community:

Having said that, I don't mind the low-boy styling of the cabinet (other than the freaking bat-wing marquee) or the big trackball (not intimidated by big balls).
BTW -- Welcome to the boards ... have a look around (and READ THE WIKI (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Main_Page)) before you decide that you you're not up to building your own. You might surprise yourself and folks here can be rather helpful (present company excluded).
Cheers

BTW: Other than the fact that we aren't really aware of the folks in charge of this outfit...Why are we always bashing these types of entities? I mean, well I guess I know why...bahhhh whatever. To each his own I guess. I would encourage a D.I.Y. approach as well. Look here markt...if you can dream it, you might be able to build it. If you can afford a pre-built machine, you can probably afford to build 3.

:laugh2:
That totally reminds me of the time my friend 'accidentally' hit the reset button on the Atari 2600 when I was about to beat his all time high score on Yars Revenge!

I've seen worse looking pre-builts...anyone remember the gargantucade or whatever it was?
I don't know how the unit plays...but the iste does not give enough info on the components in my opinion.
