Title: wiring question-adding a 4 way to existing circuit
Post by: lightspeed on March 28, 2002, 11:18:24 am
Hi,

Any have any info re: how to "patch" and dditional joystick into my existing dual 8 -ways?  I'd like to wire the stick so that I can share the 4 cardinal inputs with the P1 eight player stick.

Essentially, I want to daisy chain the wiring among two sticks so that the input can register on either one.  Is this possible?  Any ideas?  I'm using a J-Pac, btw.

Thanks,

Sure, if I'm understanding you correctly, that's no problem at all.  Just double up your J-PAC inputs for the P1 Joystick.

Ie, run a wire from the 8way up and a wire for the 4way up and connect both wires to the P1UP input on the J-PAC.  Do the same for the other 3 directions (switches).

yup, just put the inputs in parallel (for each switch, run the N.O. wire back and put both into the same contact on the jpac). Don't "daisy chain" the inputs as you said (serial connection instead of parallel). You can daisy chain the ground wire if you want to, though.

Also, putting a toggle switch on the ground wire (between the 8 way and 4 way) will let you disable the 4 way if you want.

Thanks! - I was hoping it'd be that easy!
