Title: Emulators on Nintendo DS (GP2X, etc)???
Post by: needlesmcgirk on February 19, 2007, 04:30:15 pm
Hey, have any of you guys put an emulator on a DS using a GP2X or M3 device?  I'm just wondering what the best way to do this is and what kind of price I'm looking at.  I'm not really sure what kind of emulator to use or whatever.

I can't have my arcade with me everywhere, so I thought this might be cool to play some classic MAME games and some NES.  Thanks!

I think GP2x is best for MAME. not sure, though- I've only heard it, I don't actually have one myself.

Check out dcemu.co.uk for emulators that run on consoles.

EDIT: There is a MAME for DS- MarcaDS. I don't know how well it works, but it's there.  ;)

I think you may be a little confused here. The M3 is a device for DS that lets you use homebrew, emulators, etc. The GP2X (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GP2X) is a totally separate device that has nothing at all to do with the DS. The GP2X is an open-source, Linux-based handheld video game console and media player created and sold by GamePark Holdings of South Korea. This sweet little handheld has tons of emulators and other homebrew stuff. MAME is supposedly pretty good on it. I don't think you would find a better handheld for emus as this device was designed with this kind of thing in mind.

heres a list of the emus for the gp2x:

ive yet to try out the vectrex emu. should be fun when its sorted (",)

edit: mame is basically based on v36 so you can expect about 1000 games emulated. i havent managed to get street fighter II to work properly, but then it sucks trying to play a six button fighter on this sort of device. king of fighters 94 is ok though. it also has metal slug 2, but there is also a neo geo emulator that i think you can play the better metal slug games on (i havent tried this because its freakin hard to set up).
