Hi!
Just got my spinner(TT2) and have tried Arkanoid...why is it SO hard?? I can't believe that
I suck so much at this game!!
Anyone else think so too??
:hissy:

Yes, I think you suck too.
;)

It's even harder with a d-pad, at least I think so. (NES version) :dizzy:

They made a special vaus controller that came with it. Makes it much better.

Heh. What do you have the sensitivity set to? 40 or 41 is a good place to start. If that's kicking your butt, me thinks you need some practice. Keep in mind, the game was designed to empty your pockets. ;)
DOH moves even faster, if you get too good at the original. Set the sensitivity to ~80 on that one.

I totally suck at this game. Even with all the free credits in the world... I still suck at this game.
-
The game drives me crazy. I suck at it too. I'm normally good at breakout type games. I used to play one for my old(really old) pc. Popcorn, it was from France. anybody else remeber this one?

Arkanoid rocks!
I beat the game at the Pizza Hut I worked at back in 1988 on a cocktail version. :P

It seems to me that I'm not spectacular at classic arcade games. Someone on this form can always roll me at any game. I was so proud of my 786,780 at 1943. apparently that just won't cut it.

Looks like if you would have had it verified it would have been good for 4th all time, but those top 3 stroked you. (http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&pi=2&gi=4130&vi=609)
That is "recorded" history, though, obviously this has probably been beat time and time again. I need to find a game I can own a record in. :hissy:

unless I don't get gold, i dont post. so far......I have nothing. Alot of these high scores seem to be posted by teams. I almost beat Ghost 'n' Goblins without dying once. That means squat! There are serious gamers out there, i'm not one of them.

Yeah, same here.

It is one of the reasons I built my cab. I finally realized that I was spending too much in the arcade. I really stopped playing most a lot of games when the price started going above 1 token. Oh... and the fact that nearly my entire amount my (12th) birthday money went into a dagum Gauntlet machine because I had just learned how to use an ATM. Now, I feel like I can take a little revenge on Defender, Robotron, Joust, Asteroids...well...uh...all of them.

You bought a Gauntlet at 12!?! Wow. Thats cool.

I think he meant all his birthday money went INTO a Gauntlet coin door. Maybe. That sentence doesn't make a lot of sense.

I played that game a lot. I actually remember spending time with a hex editor to "translate" the game to english too. It was one of the best games I could run on my Tandy 1000.
And yes..Arkanoid kicks my butt too.

I felt the same way about Robotron the first time I dumped a quarter into it. My 3 men died in about 10 seconds and I was about as insulted as someone who just stepped in dog poo with their brand new, white running shoes.
It's ok though. I've rolled the machine countless times since then. Keep practicing and next thing you know you'll be kicking butt at it. Check your sensitivity as suggested earlier. That may help.

Sodapopinski, that album is one of my favorites of all time

No, I went to Malabu Grand Prix (which was in my mind pronounced ---punks--- at the time)and they had Gauntlet when it first came out. I would hit the atm (conveniently located there at Malabu) and get tokens. My friend would keep the game going so we did not have to start over. I would come back with a trough of tokens. It would be gone in like a half an hour and I would hit the ATM again. It was the year I made out like a bandit with birthday income (no job at that age) and it was blown in about 2 hours. Stupidity. Then 25 years later, I learn about this hobby and this website. So I drop 2k+ on "Building My Own Arcade Machine"... yeah, I learned my lesson. Thanks a Lot Saint!!! You...you... Big Jerk. ;)

ahh... that brings back some memories. One of the first things I did when I found MAME was to fire up gauntlet and drop in about 20 in quarters (even though all I did was hit the 5 key about 200 times).
DONG!
What a good sound.

Are you from South Florida? I went to a Malibu Grand Prix all the time when I was younger ......
